Why not orbot ?

Doesn't require email (or an account) to us it and you can pay monthly with bitcoin at no extra cost

Same with orbot but you don’t have to pay

Isn't there something to paying

If you're not paying, you're not the customer, you're the product?

I know I know! It’s powered by Tor, I doubt that you are a customer in that case 🤷‍♂️

Someone is paying though, no?

Donating 🤷‍♂️

I’ve been using it too because someone posted about it. Thanks whoever you were 🫂

Mullvad is the only way! 🙂

How does Proton compare with it?

Proton is pretty bad for both linux cli and gui / mobile clients. It’s really a shame. I wanted to like it so bad.

I am using Proton on Android full time. And macOS a good amount of time. Seems fine?

My throughput on home fiber and mobile were both pretty bad. And setting up a tunnel on a headless server is freaking painful and not reliable.

Mullvad or iVPN using wireguard win hands down for s as my headless setup. (Mullvad if you want port forwarding).

Mullvad definitely rules for all my cli uses cases. Their iOS app is kinda bad unfortunately. If that is your target platform, check out iVPN. All the same great features of Mullvad are except port forwarding which is largely useless in mobile anyway.

Honestly, for any home setup, I don’t recommend anything that uses a client. They are all pretty bad. Setup a VM or Docker that does Wireguard to Mullvad. Few iptables rules to NAT all outbound traffic to the tunnel IP. Any home client you want on VPN, point to VM/Docker as default gw. If not leave .1 as default gw. Best of both worlds.

This also largely overcomes the problem that mobile clients don’t get notifications b/c the VPN tunnel / client went to sleep in the background.

For cellular, still screwed. Use iVPN client.

so now you are concentrating all your traffic through one company. you think this is a good idea?
