Totally agree. I tried localsend as a workaround but (at least for me) it never worked

Works for me but kinda janky.

I tried with different devices and even though they would see each other sending files always failed. Miss snapdrop πŸ₯²

Have you tried…

https://localsend.org/

We talked about it in the thread 😊 I tried with different devices but it never worked for me

Aww, boo.

It will also always be slower than wifi direct

Or just tethering with USB. Even this is too complicated. You have to choose a mode?? Seriously? What is this, 95? πŸ˜‚

FWIW, I just tried between two machines: one running Arch (btw) and another running Ubuntu. It worked flawlessly and quickly.

When Localsend works, its like butter.

When Localsend device A does not discover and see device B on the same network and vice versa I am at a loss.

For me devices discovered but sending files always failed 🫠

Another (beta) option I’ve tested is Tailscale’s Send Files feature.

For your own devices, natch.

This is ancient tech compared to p2p wifi which works even when you’re not on a network at all. Linux should just add the capability, not sure why it still does not have this.

I've never seen this implemented. Any examples I can check out?

pretty solid option [most] of the time
