What’s interesting is if you’re using private zaps like a DM, it’s truly private and has no public metadata. You could switch to a OnlyZaps™️ DM mode where all the messages are private zaps. This could be a good way to fight DM spam and improve privacy 🤔

You’re effectively using services like WoS to send the DM for you, with the identity and message encrypted inside. This turns nip57 providers into DM privacy proxies on nostr that also incurs a cost to spam. This is pretty fucking cool.

Would also be neat if you paid the provider 2 sats per message handled and the provider repaid the sender 1 sat for delivery.
This way you know the message was delivered and the provider has some financial motivation, however small.

Only works when I do on desktop. When I copy paste on mobile it only gives 1 link, plus don’t know what the extension is. I’ll try .jpeg for zits and giggles

A Private Zap could be a request to DM (e.g. like Signal) if not from someone that is followed. Could be part of a new DM specification (other than NIP-04).
How are zaps being validated? Is there a whitelist of entities signing the Zap event?
I understand it is done by relays if at all.
I’m not sure it would be a good anti-spam, unless the zap was double-checked by the LM wallet.
I’m very interested in better privacy for DMs. Will take a look at the NIP to understand better how it works
They are validated using the nostrPubkey on the lnurlp endpoint.
My proposal of changing the name to Zostr — Zaps and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays — makes more and more sense.
The more things get integrated with LN the better they’ll get.
