the entire point of bitcoin is that we can spend or save it without permission

that said, having the us gov actively trying to ruin our lives is not ideal

the progress we have made since last year on the policy front is tangible, absolutely massive, still much work to be done, need to keep pushing

No quiero bitcoin para los gobiernos

#Bitcoin es más grande que los gobiernos .

They can attack it all they want, they’ve been doing it for over a decade. What we are seeing was always inevitable, they lost and are panicking trying to get in as cheap as possible. Nothing stops #Bitcoin outside of full global annihilation via nuclear war.

When the government claims to fix your problems, you should check your wallet, and your freedom!

Is it actually safer to use bitcoin today than 10 years ago? Not so sure when chainalysis is leading the charge against people like Roman Sterlingov.

definitely better than last year which is when roman was sentenced

maybe not better than 10 years ago but thats only because govs were just starting to pay attention

10 years ago is when things started trending in a negative direction, this is the first year that trend has reversed

Hoping Roman is freed soon and chainalysis gets shut down for good. Would be nice to get a CD update on Roman, surveillance, and privacy tools. Ever since the samourai team got locked up, I’m not sure how strong my privacy is. Join market looks promising but I’m not aware of the tradeoffs.

Massive indeed 👀

I feel we are going faster than expected. 🫡

Can't hear you when you whisper

Did you see my post I tagged you in?

just seeing it now, my notifications are overwhelmed

the only requirement for opensats is the project must be open source

in regard to education projects that means the materials should be freely distributed and can be used by anyone without permission

Wonderful. I will ensure the materials are open source, open access, and copyright free. Where would he apply? And how quickly will a decision be made. Not rushing you nor the team. Just asking because he wants to start the seminars the first week of April.

https://opensats.org/apply

new apps are temporarily closed while we clear our backlog but should be open again in a few weeks

Ok. Thanks.

I see that the application for grants are back open. How long does it take to get a response regarding a decision after submission?

It does make the road ahead a bit easier, not as much uphill, although more winding…

I do not understand people who do not understand this.

it is kind of hilarious that it needs to be said, good to see you using nostr brother

People have a fantasy about what it would be like to live as an enemy of the US government, and who they would be in that situation.

In my experience, the words “Found hiding in a spider hole” loom large.

call me crazy but would rather not have the most powerful government in human history in my threat model

Bootlicker

Don't we need to beat them?

What if the real victory is not beating them, but converting them?

Because you’re watching a hell of a lot of members of the government become bitcoiners before your eyes. You are not seeing the government disappear, and you’re not going to see that in your lifetime, sorry to tell everybody.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't know if it's better for them to adopt or just ignore bitcoin. Openly hostile to it would not be great. I just feel like there is an angle they are hoping to exploit. Which is probably true but unavoidable. Things will just have to play out.

Ignore is not an option. If you believe the things most of us have believed and said about where bitcoin was always going to go, it was never an option. How could bitcoin take over the store of value function from so many global assets and be ignored?

I mean, no offense saying this, but this is why I have yet to hear an argument from the other side of this which is not based in fantasy.

Fair point, no offense taken, I'm just pondering out loud.

This feels almost sarcastic without any caps and little punctuation.

I hear you whispering this.
