I don't really have a problem with children not being allowed on social media, but really this law is going to affect people of all ages, which seems like the main purpose.
I assume the original post's celebratory tone is more about adults joining nostr. I really don't think children should be here tbh.

You can't block kids or teens without somehow reliably determining their age and identity. And that means everyone needs to be validated, which also means there will be a database somewhere (likely not properly patched) with all of our identification information paired with sort of token that facilitates login to the various sites. It's goddammed 1984 nightmare.
Yeah, I agree I don't think this law is really about helping children tbh.
But I also don't like the idea of children joining nostr tbh.
I envy the naivety of anyone who thinks children should be on nostr. But unfortunately I've seen the Global feed.
I agree it's not really an appropriate place for kids, but I don't like the transparent "think of the children" red herring. It should be the responsibility of parents to set boundaries and determine what their kids are allowed access to. And I'm all for giving them tools to effectively do that, but I vehemently oppose any efforts to obliterate privacy in service to some grand, misguided scheme to systemically force the identification of all users. Which I believe is their actual agenda.
