I read it as they're going to develop a wallet and allow anyone with a Google account to have access to bitcoin. That would be huge for adoption.
We already can, through nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgqgdwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkcqpqex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jqjrm2qp and other platforms. Adding Bitcoin directly to Google Wallet would be interesting.
I'm not a fan of:
- Google/Apple password managers
- Google/Apple pay
But they do work for many, it just means that:
- things you deem private enough to require encryption can now be taken from you.
- to enable recovery, most people will make it possible for big daddy tech to read that data whenever they want or need.
