I'm new here doing a little research, would be super appreciated if anyone passing by can point out one two accounts for me that match the following:

- Focussed on a specific subject (indie gaming, react native, quantum physics, All Blacks rugby, string theory, whatever.), all things bitcoin excluded.

- Not mixing subject-specific content with bitcoin content (i.e. a creator ostensibly focussed on spirituality but every fifth post is slipping something in about bitcoin)

- Not a nostr dev talking about nostr

- Not posting ultra-shallow content, a few bland quotes here, a cliche GIF there, (must be decent-quality original content with some real thought having gone in to it)

- Not bridged via ActivityPub or elsewhere

- Not posting other places first and then having an assistant or bot copy-paste to an npub account (i.e. might as well be bridged)

- Has a respectable following; small is fine as long as that following is engaged (not just a string of posts with no comments or likes, each post has some discussion

- Bonus: earning a non-trivial amount of stats per month (something you could call an income stream, albeit a very modest one).

I suspect there might be a few out there, though I haven’t surfaced any yet (search isn’t so easy here).

Thanks!

You can search nostr for keywords using damus, nostrudel, nos.today. Iris, primal etc.

See also permaculture and homesteading community. Sometimes they use the following hashtags: farmstr, permies, permaculture, homesteading.

There is also a Christian community.

If you dont see what you are looking for start it, and post consistently! Nostr is still in bootstrap phase, and folks want to consume and reward quality content.

Hmm I can't think of many off the top of my head.

There's

nostr:nprofile1qqsp4a2f2kfkh6qyl9gpqer75kk6t3mz0mwlqu6207qnhwswx8hdjcqpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz8thwden5te0dehhxarj9e3xjarrda5kuetj9eek7cmfv9kz7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxummnw3ezucn89unqla3n - rugmaker

There are some people who make alts to be topic-specofic, like one you already mentioned.

nostr:nprofile1qqsx7ld4tgxe92jj6tan75krnseqkp9a9jktl8a5r469zf89npwckfgprdmhxue69uhhw6r9v96zu6rpwpc8jarpwejhym3wvdhj7qgnwaehxw309amk7apww468smewdahx2tcpr3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68yetvd96x2uewdaexwtcfdjf3n - gaming

I would look up nos social's programme. They seem to focus on accounts like this nostr:nprofile1qqs8d3c64cayj8canmky0jap0c3fekjpzwsthdhx4cthd4my8c5u47spzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ucpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3vamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxtnnda3kjctvll3q2p (?)

I posted earlier today actually about there not being many topic-focused accounts. Nostr sort of (accidentally?) deincentivises posting like this because of the dominant bitcointwitter culture. I e seen a few promising account spring up like this, be most are demoralised by lack of engagement, community/conversation and leave.

Wow thank you for thinking of me. I’m interested! šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

thx for support šŸ’œšŸ«”

Thanks for getting back to me with those!

I’ve got through all so far, but still can’t find an account that clears those filters.

ā PictureRoom - Seems to be interspersing a fair amount of bitcoin references, fair enough to them, but I’m hoping for creators that would appeal to people who will ā€˜nope out’ if they see bitcoin references pop up regularly.

Ainsley Costello - Also posting a fair amount of bitcoin content (again fair enough to her, that's the audience here).

War Monitor - Clearly investing in content, but 90% posts I’m seeing 0 replies. Perhaps that’s an account from another platform reposting here, and engagement is on that other platform? Hoping for at least a little genuine back and forth under each post, doesn’t have to be 100 replies but at least 5 replies or so, some agreement, some disagreement, especially on current news like Syria -- basically anything to show there is a genuine following here on nostr, even if modest. (Something other creators would look at and say hey, there's a potential audience over there on nostr.)

isolabell.art - Her paintings are my style! But she's also slotting in bitcoin content such as:

ā€œIf you don't find time to do things, maybe time is waiting for the next block to be mined.ā€

ā€œWait for the value of Bitcoins to rise and buy while saving!ā€

Again fair enough, makes total sense for here. But I'm really hoping to surface content that won’t turn off people who, for whatever reason, just don't like bitcoin and are not going to like bitcoin.

Hopeless romantic - Seems to be reposting quite a lot of inspirational GIFs, and I'm not seeing any discussion under mosts posts, maybe that's an automated account?

Zap cooking - Good name. Not seeing replies on most original posts there either though, also the ratio of reposts to original posts is a little high.

This seems to be the challenge. I guess it could be quite early, but I'm hoping to find at least 5 nostr-first creators that will appeal to those who don't want to hear about bitcoin and for whom each post is generating replies.

Good points.

Check nostr:npub18nagz6a53yh6d05e8trj487dhvyfhh4qchvsz87jqng4g4zl5tvs825evl weekly posts on non-btc non-nostr npubs.

I think nostr:npub1j60x528w2g2vkq5kae5uhh8y7sezjyj20zcsg0v9muc72cmdpu0s0md7ua and co at Nos have a independent journalism initiative.

I would say nostr:npub1n8gvnx827tdl46ke406sjx0t5ey4mrtptux766ejp9y2ff8cc3uqe4ufd0 is a good option re technology for journalists.

nostr:npub1uuxnz0sq60thc098xfxqst7wnw77l0sm3r8nn48yspuvz4ecprksxdahzv is news and original content not an algorithm. I find myself learning new things from their work.

nostr:npub1xm0rvnpw52nh7tk59ntly55w74rmd2cqvt3kg5zxrzz3rlssvspsk0gs6s is very progressive/ left news / opinion pieces.

nostr:npub1daajnadf0f0s7uz3yftur8434rtz2s949gkdpx7uyeapm9rlt0qq9q8w5z writes about parenting as a dad, so if you have kids…

nostr:npub1f5kc2agn63ecv2ua4909z9ahgmr2x9263na36jh6r908ql0926jq3nvk2u is another artist focused on street sketches. I love her work!

nostr:npub1q33jywkl8r0e5g48lvrenxnr3lw59kzrw4e7p0cecslqzwc56eesjymqu0 streams music from his own mastodon server but through Nostr. If you are in Europe it’s definitely worth a listen in the morning. He occasionally posts about technology but only related to his own setup.

nostr:npub1jcwuf0dh5vqsq44qavygqwjfecawf53fmx7gadlcdtuexz0548hqy4jyrz is an advocacy organization for digital privacy in the states. Worth following if you want to help fight KOSA and other uninformed legislation.

This is a challenge we spent some time working on earlier this year and recruited the above folks to feature or join Nostr.

If you are familiar with the flywheel effect, Nostr is a bit stuck on the turn around the bottom. The tech is there, there’s a group of enthusiastic early adopters but they are struggling to bring more folks in. Lack of diverse content is a major barrier however there are other challenges as well.

Someone joined a few weeks ago, introduced themselves and was bombarded by welcome messages to set up a wallet. The person left within an hour after noting they were not interested in Bitcoin. There is nothing wrong with enthusiasm however we need to meet people where they are. Not everyone is excited about Bitcoin and we should respect that and instead discover what they are interested in.

Censorship resistance is a lagging motivator meaning a person will only make the switch when they have personally experienced shadow banning or outright banning elsewhere. Yet most of the Nostr marketing in the wild leads with this selling point. Ask 5 average people what they think that means and what the social network behind it would be like and you’ll begin to see why the flywheel is stuck.

With that said the protocol is incredibly flexible which means there are lots of opportunities to build around and/or through these challenges. And there are many developers and teams doing good work.

My sense is that 2025 would be a good year to start linking all the pieces together. Less traditional keynote talks and more interactive working sessions focused on specific use cases.

I’m personally excited about the possibilities as we head into 2025!

Thank you for recommending me! And all the other creators mentioned here are awesome too. Can't go wrong.

Not sure if I meet nostr:nprofile1qqstjrpukuwkvdp7qygy6hy6ma7mqhfkv5a3wcqllxewaw4gr0n8sgcpy4mhxue69uhk6ctnw3hkgmmw9e3kcmm4vshkzurf9amrztmnw3ex2ctdd9hxwqgkwaehxw309ahx7um5wghxx6pndcexktnrdakszxrhwden5te0dehhxarj9e4h2mn8ve6j6eewwf5hq4kx86h 's criteria. I don't get many comments on my posts. Even if I ask a question, unless it's about troubleshooting nostr. Not sure why.

Merci de me mentionner, en effet je fait une note quotidienne depuis mai 2024, juste pour le plaisir de partager mon travail, un gm et un cafƩ

Thanks for the shout Linda! Much appreciated. I stream using OBS and Owncast which it federated on ActivityPub, but also goes out Nostr native via Zap.Stream.

The Fediverse has a more developed music community. The Bitcoin side of things is a big hurdle for a lot of people on the Fediverse.

I’m a big believer in digital autonomy so self host where I can although Nostr may abstract that level away.

The day job is working for a long running indie label in the uk and I often discuss music production/music life and many listeners in the chat are music makers themselves.

But also here for fun times and cats, you know like ā€˜normies’ lol.

Thanks for plugging us here nostr:npub1j60x528w2g2vkq5kae5uhh8y7sezjyj20zcsg0v9muc72cmdpu0s0md7ua ! We're still finding our way on here. Excited to engage more with community building in the new year.

Thank you nostr:npub1j60x528w2g2vkq5kae5uhh8y7sezjyj20zcsg0v9muc72cmdpu0s0md7ua!! Even if you don’t have kids… Because I talk about my experience as a father and share thoughts about what it means to be a man. I love it that people who don't have children also read Recalculating newsletter and write to me. In the end, it may be because, even if we are not parents, we are all daughters and sons. 😊
