Ironically Nostr is far less private to the average end-user. Everyone must really use a VPN unless you enjoy giving dozens of randos your IP address.

Simple answer for home wifi if you have a little linux knowledge, make a vpn gw vm/docker i.e. x.x.x.2 instead of dot 1. Any host you want to use the vpn just have dhcp repoint the default gw to dot 2. No more horrible vpn clients.

Mullvad works great as it’s all just wireguard.

I agree VPNs are important for hiding your IP on nostr, but I still think the situation with large centralized platforms is worse. There you're sharing your information with potentially hundreds of internal employees, compared to maybe half a dozen relay operators.

What’s awesome is that you have a choice and can just change your relays if you don’t like what’s happening
