I am now venturing into the gift card world (with bitrefill) because I have so little fiat that this only makes sense. I want to live on a bitcoin standard and this would be the next logical step.

Short if paying my rent, bills, and credit cards off, I only buy Bitcoin with the rest of my money.

If anyone has any suggested life hacks and are on a bitcoin standard I am all ears 👂 😊 🙏

Visa cards works great for online purchases and the dust left on them can be cleaned using Amazon. Over there you can fill you your account using the 1.27$ left on your cards.

Thank you!🫂

I’d recommend committing only small amounts that you can handle having tied up if there’s an activation problem with one or more of the gift cards. I would recommend smaller denominations until Bitrefill demonstrates a track record of reliability to you. And know ahead of time what recourse you have with Bitrefill if you try to use a card and it comes back saying it’s not activated or fails at point of purchase. I would recommend doing a web search for “bitrefill prepaid mastercard card not activated” or “bitcoin gift card activation issue” to get a sense of issues that others have run into before you decide to use the service. I’ve read some posts while researching my own wish to go this route, about non responsive or difficult to reach customer service from Bitrefill for these issues. And some problems in particular with prepaid Mastercards from Bitrefill when it comes time to actually trying to make a purchase with them. There are also many posts from people that love the service. Not to sow FUD, but better to learn from others’ experience before you drop a couple thousand dollars on cards imho. Caveat emptor. I haven’t taken the plunge with Bitrefill or Coincards yet. Just been stacking and using Lightning where I can for pocket change or fence post money. Curious to see what your experience is like.

I've definitely been apprehensive for those reasons. Thank you for the advise 🙏. I will be looking into it🫂

If you still have a fiat job check out bitwage to get paid in sats

Thx: Honestly depends on how you manage your taxes, and how many gift cards you are willing and able to buy. Also, if you run a network VPN or ise Tor (as you should), it can sometimes be less private in my experience.

Ex: gas card (paid for in sats) requires app, app tracks loaction data. TOS says you don't get your money back if you can't use it behind these kinds of basic OPSEC.

Or, giftcard doesn't work behind a VPN or over Tor.

Some giftcards work with basic OPSEC, but it's a bit of trial and error depending on whatever site you're trying to spend the gc on, and which payment processor they use.

My experience says, stacking coin, using cash or privacy . com debit cards or some giftcards paid for with fully non-kyc sats, but preferring Monero whenever possible, makes the most sense to me.

Thank you 🙏🫂

bitrefill the mastercard works over vpn which is nice. but i found the prepaid debit cards pretty hard to use without a lot of info given away

in general gift cards like a safeway or kroger card can be bought and used by just presenting the qr at checkout, so works pretty similar to cash. this is the bulk of where i spend, easy to just keep a couple large ones on rotation, and you dont end up with any dust too as you roll from one to the other at checkout which is nice.

i just posted on this but etsy works real well as you can buy a giftcard, make acct, redeem card, buy the item as a gift and be prety private ( especially if you send the gift to a friends house under a nym).

I appreciate your input on this, thank you 🙏🫂

Try not to feel defeated when that thing you purchased four years ago, when originally measured in btc price, is now a ridiculous amount of btc for said item.
