Where would you get your food if it suddenly became scarce or unaffordable?
Discussion
Is there food you can procue ypurself? Are you close to food production? Do you know people who are producing more food than they can consume? Do you even have emergency supplies if there is a crisis?
Local farmers. Grow it myself as last resort.
Bark soup, whatever it takes. Nice to grow & farm your own but others be looking for it too.
Squirrels would look much more tasty in time.
Use your pantry, and buy local if you can. But supply chains take time to adjust.
Cuba's so-called "Special Period" is a good example of what might happen. Caloric intake drops. Every scrap of arable dirt is repurposed to grow crops. Doctors and lawyers switch to farming, because it pays more. Backyard chickens become more of a fixture in households.
what concerns me is that most of America's population is urban. Apartment dwellers will be in trouble. Suburban households have a better chance with their fenced yards.
