New Zealand’s managed to get mobile operators to provide free access to a ton of public services and related sites except from users normal data caps.

Zero.govt.nz

This is something Meta did for only their services, but the public option is much better. I know Uruguay provides free universal broadband as part of their policies around internet as a fundamental human right. Does any other country do this?

Lot of subsidized/free access in U.S. but you have to be “poor” first.

Nothing is free.

Here in Australia Telstra have fitted WiFi access points into their payphones and provide free WiFi at those locations. I’ve never used it myself so I’m not sure about speeds & reliability. There are also other city wide free WiFi projects in some of the major capital cities and there is a government scheme to provide free broadband to disadvantaged families with children at school but eligibility for that is very limited.

sounds like commie wifi

Just let us steal from you and we will force some captured company to give 0.00001 of what we steal back in the form of a shitty service
