If I wanted to mine corn , what is the most entry level , basic -bitch way of doing it ?

Buy an s9 from kaboomracks.com
Telegram marketplace is on their website. Plug it in. Connect to a mining pool. Done

Can you buy and host a miner with kaboomracks under a nym?
Looking for additional no-kyc options, but electricity where I live if 💸💸💸
It looks like they accept payment in Lightning at least
Yes you can pay with on chain, lightning or cuckbucks
You buy it from them on telegram. You can put whatever name you want for the billing. They ship it to the address of your choice. They don’t offer hosting services last time I checked though
It looks like they have hosting options now
Will look further into this
Is the L7 worth it, pre-halving?
Still a noob but eager to get into this
Unless your wanting to mine LTC or Doge I don’t think you’ll want the L7
Is it not a Bitcoin miner? Or just not efficient? Perhaps I’m thinking of the wrong thing. Lol def have zero interest in mining shitcoins
no, it's not, an L7 is a Scrypt miner :P
Oh scrypt miners can’t mine bitcoin. You want a sha-256 miner like s9, s19, etc…
This is why I’m here 😂😂
Thanks guys
If going for 1 machine, is S19 still the “best” with regard to hash rate, longevity, etc.?
It’s all about efficiency. The newer s19xp is more efficient than the s19. The s19 is way more efficient than the s9. The more efficient the miner is, the pricier it is.
On the other hand an s9 is super sturdy and the replacement pieces are easy to find. Very easy to repair.
Really depends on your budget too
If you want to look at the efficiency : https://www.asicminervalue.com/
This is helpful, thank you!
Unfortunately seems like every option will land in the negative without hosting.
But maybe that’s the “premium” for kyc-free sats mined at home 😂
just an FYI, the S9 is not profitable and barely produces any sats. i only use them to heat my house in the winter or at random times during the warmer months if my basement is too cold.
that doesn't mean that it's not worth it to buy one for $150 to learn and play around though. use it to figure out how to manage sound and heat and see if you want to get into something a bit more cost effective and also pricier.
No problem 🙏🏼
Oh new service that’s cool!
I don’t know the L7 that well. In general, wether a miner is worth it or not for you is always dependant on your cost of electricity. I like to use the website asic miner value. I input my cost of electricity (per kWh ) and I decide based on how much money it makes per day vs the cost
A company that hosts miners doesn’t nearly make as much as if they mine the bitcoin for themselves, which is why buy+host hasn’t worked out well for the masses.
Compass was a disaster for few people I know who gave that a run. Others have had the company rug pull them
This is true. I’ve heard about the compass mining disaster.
I'm going to check them out .
Let me know if you need info on noise reduction, happy to help
Will do man, are they particularly noisy yeah ?
Also , wait way do the mining rewards get dished out , is it randomly or at regular intervals ?
Without any changes yes the fans that come with it are pretty noisy. Usually people put it in a garage or in an encasing that reduces sound or change the fans for quieter ones.
For the rewards I imagine it’s dependant on which mining pool you choose. With Braiins, you get the rewards in your account when they mine a block. The reward is then confirmed after 100 blocks (so less than a day). You can withdraw to your cold storage as soon as the reward is confirmed, but there’s a fee if the amount is too low. Or you can set it up to auto withdraw at a certain threshold.
Brains is a mining pool or software ?
Braiins has a pool and software. Braiins pool is the mining pool. And Braiins os+ is the auto tuning mining software that can be installed on your miner in order to make it more efficient and you can do things like under locking to reduce the hashing power but also the electricity usage and noise.
When you buy from kaboomracks you can ask them to install Braiins os+ for you. It’s compatible with s9, s19, s19xp,… it’s particularly useful if you’re going to use braiins pool as you won’t pay fees on your mining rewards (if you have Braiins os+ installed)
*under clocking
The firmware stuff is awesome too, you can use it to dial back the power/heat output so it doesn't sound like a dental drill all the time. Good for heating use case.
Dental drill…on steroids 🤣🤣
I have never understood why every last human who sells 60 and 80mm fans hasn't been executed for crimes against humanity.
Minimum fan size for my taste is 120mm, and 140 is finally getting to reasonable.
The other thing is these high RPM fans they wear out a lot faster.
Yes bigger fans are better. I like the AC infinity fans with an adaptor from cryptocloaks. Big fan. You can set it to low. Not much noise
I’m mining with a nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n Jade. I probably won’t ever earn anything, but who knows?
Do you actually want to mine properly, or just "use your CPU/GPU power to get coin eventually"? I ask because using something like NiceHash to mine a shitcoin then converting that to Bitcoin would get you coin without you having to buy a proper miner or waste brain power trying to figure out the most optimal thing to mine with your existing hardware.
If you're morally opposed to shitcoins then I'd buy a used ASIC miner on eBay and join a pool. You can get little USB miners for cheap but they have really terrible hashrates so I'd be amazed if you even made back the cost of them.
