NAC. N-acetylcystene - Anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-anxiety properties. I take it everyday, and I feel the difference when I do an off-cycle. It chelates heavy metals so it's a good idea to supplement copper/zinc at the same time (just fyi).

I have a number of different supplements in my stack, but NAC is an all-star.

Ok, THIS is the type of response I was looking for. I know a lot of people who take NAD+. Are you a fellow chemist? You sound like it. Will 100% look into this. Thank you

Any others you take? At the moment I’m taking biotin, hyaluronic acid, collagen peptides, vitamin d, omega-3, glucosamine + chondroitin, among a few others

I am no chemist, no background in it at all but I try to thoroughly vet anything I put into my body.

I supplement for some pretty specific reasons, I have issues with anxiety and mood swings, brain fog, and low energy levels.

Beyond NAC I also supplement inositol, Maca root, D3, zinc/copper, magnesium, L-theanine, and glycine.

I also take DHEA off and on in small 2-3 day stretches each month because I'm over 40, but I'm wary of messing with hormones so I try to keep it minimal.

I'm going to be introducing piracetam soon to combat brain fog, and will report back when I have results.

Ahhhh DHEA is starting to be implemented with combat vets. I used to take Levo theanine post coffee for a bit to see if it reduced the jitters. Magnesium and zinc can be huge for those deficient as well. Honestly I think all of that stuff is fascinating, sometimes the right supplement can yield massive reward.

Out of curiosity, do you exercise a lot?

Not as much as I should be, admittedly. I spend 60 minutes or so a week weightlifting. 2 days on, 1 rest day, repeat.

You know what? That’s probably 60 minutes more than 80% of people. I only ask because brain fog etc are also symptoms of various over training syndromes. Keep me in the loop. I’m really interested/passionate in general health/wellness/strength and conditioning, so any input I can get from folks is good data as far as I’m concerned.

For sure, I'll try and remember to tag you on the notes I post about supplementation and my journey through that rabbit hole.

The brain fog came back with a vengeance when I stopped taking the mood stabilizer I was on for 15 years. It is likely a symptom of the bipolarity that was just suppressed.

I’m sorry you have to battle with that, Entropy (love that username tho). I too have struggled with my own mind. I took SSRI’s very briefly for a period of time. I am not a physician and certainly not your physician. But there is a way. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but it sounds you’re real proactive. Most people will take a pharmaceutic (whether necessary or not) and never try to help themselves. I promise you I know this from first hand experience, that you must be your #1 advocate. Don’t ever stop learning or fighting for your case. Keep me posted. I hope you find your light, homie.

Appreciate it 💜

It's not as big a deal as you might think. You live with something long enough and it becomes a part of your background experience.

Problems don't solve themselves, and I am all about leaning in to find an adequate set of tradeoffs.

Modern pharmacology has its place, but I believe that in the vast majority of cases people can manage their health needs by making smaller changes.

I don’t know why i brought up NAD😅. Think I read this too quick
