3500 calorie deficit = 1 lb weight loss, is what I was told. Was fairly accurate back when i tried something like this

What does that even mean. My daily maintenance calories are 2800 (the number of calories needed to maintain my current weight if i did no exercise).
-3500 over how long? I like to think in terms of calories under maintenance so i can at least track it accurately.
I think i see it now. If you want to lose 2lbs per week maybe you multiply 3500 * 2 and divide it over the week, thats about a 1000cal per day deficit?
Yeah that's the idea. Friend of mine who's pretty psycho with this stuff told me this. Held true for my personal study more or less
3500 under your basal metabolic. I guess it should hold over any span, but realistically something like a week. So if you had 3000 basal rate, ate only 2k a day, that'd be about 2lbs loss a week. Just a rule of thumb that seemed to hold for me
