Hiring young people for entry level jobs requires us to educate them on how to read and count. I have never met so many high school and college grads that cannot count a simple till to 200. They also seem to have absolutley no idea that following policy and doing what their manager asks them to do is why they are being paid. They all seem to think they should be paid more, yet they don't even generate enough value to be paid what the state requires us to pay them. Most young people are worth little to nothing in the entry level market. We are being forced to be elementary school teachers just to fill basic roles.

If a person can't show up on time, read simple instructions and just does the job however the fuck they decided to randomly do it, of course thinking it is better way to do it (that obviously fails to meet the requirements) then who do they think they will magically become?

A doctor can't miss a line item, an accountant can't add incorrectly, a lawyer can't be late to court. It baffles me how young people are so clueless as to what is expected in the real world. They think they are worth so much money and have such a bright future ahead of them but they can't complete a simple task as the boss asked it to be done and literally cry when held accountable for failing.

We speak to so many small business owners who feel like they are living in the twilight zone over their staff. Many have taken to closing locations and running at a personal scale so that they can maintain sanity and live in objective reality because their staff has become so delusional and excuse driven.

Societal scale fatherlessness and feminization of the entire education system is coming home to roost.

Upsides: if you're a moderately capable and motivated person, the world is your oyster.

Downsides: the entitled zombie hordes are coming to parasite off your effort and success.

Yeah, if people think the wealth gap is bad now, wait until 5% of these young kids dominate the business world because they showed up. Also gives me very scary Pol Pot opportunities.

Agreed, my company hires engineering grads often and in large quantity. They cannot perform basic arithmetic, lack any logic, and think they’re worth 100k+. Then cry when you tell them how it is.

i would think engineering grads would be some of the highest functioning so that is scary

Scary times comrade

Bc most cheat their way thru the hard classes.

Cheating is so prevalent that engineering students who don't cheat are at a serious disadvantage on grading curves.

All a BS degree is any more is an exercise in time commitment.

I’m afraid how accurate this is.

Brutal.

They be like: I need $150k plus benefits and paid vacation and work from home

You be like: What is 2+2?

Nearly! Not quite 2+2. More like 2/2!

It’s the same in public high schools. I taught for ten years and I was in no way surprised while reading your note. It’s insane.

It is like nothing matters to them. I always tried to impress my employer, earn their respect and learn new skills from them. I would get paid more for working to make the business function better.

It is like they have no basic connection to what they are a part of. Sometimes I think that they may spend so much time online that going to work is some kind of come down, or like entering some foreign world.

I think what I get frustrated the most at is there is this attitude that what a business does is lame, that asking to do things the way I want is annoying, that they don't want to understand why things are done a certain way. That they can just quit, lie on their unemployment forms, take another job, quit there. All while feeling self rightous and superior about some fantasy future of theirs.

I know what I have to do to earn a living, I don't even understand how these people make it.

The system has done nothing but provide excuses and escapes for them. Unless they come from good parents they’ve literally never been held accountable.

There are still terrific, smart, respectful young folks out there, but they’re fewer and fewer all the time. I legit watched the degradation of the system and its product for a decade.

It’s not getting better any time soon. Every one of those shitty employees had shitty parents, almost guaranteed. Couple that with the YouTube influencer bullshit and their faces being in screens all day, gtfoh.

Or TikTok or whatever the fuck they’re staring at for 10 hours a day.
