Our family tradition holiday treats / fancy munchies aka hors d'oeuvres

What are yours, if any?

Cucumber sandwiches - Teeny cocktail bread squares spread with soft cream cheese seasoned with a secret seasoning blend and topped with thinly sliced cucumber & a dash of dill weed

BBQ little smokies/cocktail wienies - Heated up homemade bbq sauce in a small crock that stays warm, served with toothpicks

Fancy crackers (My mom's favorite) - Oyster crackers coated with a blend of garlic & herbs and tossed in melted butter, and baked, and dried out overnight on paper towels

Butter soup - hot water mixed with molten butter

😂Butter soup sounds crazy! Lol

shrimp cocktail, spent many a preholiday deshelling and deveining a bunch of shrimp to boil and making cocktail sauce to pack up and bring downstate and later down the shore to our aunts and uncle and cousins.

my older male cousins would always bring their own horseradish and hot sauce to tamper with it until it was a chemical warfare situation

my dad is also known for his stuffed mushrooms with crabmeat but hasnt made them in a long time.

his grandmother was a professional cook. so everyone on this side of the family cooks confidently and well. lasting grandma legacy.

oh wait, one more thing so famous, chips and dip. like the holidays meant the sour cream and french onion dried soup mix getting combined and potato chips. historically a very low-chip household so this is like a big thing

like many many many memories of eating this dip as a kid wearing stockings and uncomfortable shoes

dressed so nice to eat these potato chips

I cannot be trusted around potato chips 😬

I love horseradish

Lol chemical warfare 😭🙏

Little mushrooms stuffed with cheese and shit.

Yummmm. I feel sorry for people who don't love mushrooms

These must be a Midwest thing because we do the exact same things with a little variation lol. Italian dressing seasoning packet in the cream cheese. Grape jelly and mustard for the little smokies. Ranch seasoning in the butter for oyster crackers.

Yaaaasss

Those are all pretty much spot on (I make the BBQ sauce myself but using standard store bought this year, otherwise it's wasted on my relatives who don't care about being sugar-free as I'm diabetic)

I'm definitely Midwestern lol (Minnesotan)

Those cucumber sandwiches sound amazing. Might make those. Hints on the seasoning?

Someone gave away the secrets in their reply...
