Dude don’t beat yourself up. Happens to all of us. Try to find leverage points—if I calmly threaten to take games away or TV or sleepovers…that gets better attention

Unless you've a PhD in Behaviourial Science, don't beat yourself up too much. Small kids inject entropy into everything.

Well, I dont always fail, but sometimes it gets way worse than you describe 😅

As a parent of 5, this is me every single night. Just gotta keep at it.

Are you being hard on yourself? That's probably no worse than a boundary less home, though idk your tone when raising voice.

Kids are like animals- dogs- and depending on their attention state, need to have their attention focused. Skilled to do it without raising voice, but there is a skill in raising a voice in a non violent way. but raising voice still better than raised fists.

Best thing to do is tell the internet about things like this.

I’m the same but it’s when we are trying to go out…, “get your socks on!! Now your jumper”

I’ve found asking them what needs to happen next (eg: what do you need to do for you to be ready to go out? Or; what do you need to do to get ready for bed?) and them expressing their comprehension of the situation. Works until you get the reply, “I don’t know” hahaha then I’m back to square one!
