GM☕️☀️

Did an unplanned 24 hour fast yesterday. Since I’m fat-adapted it was very easy. No stomach growling or hangriness at any point in the day. Hunger at most was a 4/10.

I remembered back when I was a carb consumer how hungry I would be in the morning and how badly my stomach would growl just 5 or 6 hours after breakfast. I was a different organism back then.

Good morning my fren 🐸

Fat adapted is when you have totally stopped eating sugar?

It's when your body goes into ketosis and starts burning fat instead of storing it.

This is correct. Body being able to fully utilize fat as an energy source instead of glucose.

It takes the average person 2 years to reach full fat adaptation and can take someone who was very dependent on carbohydrates as a fuel source up to 4 years to fully adapt!

Ah gotcha. So 2 years

Doesn't ketosis happen roughly after 12 hours of fasting?

Yes. Watch this video to understand better:

Bookmarked it ✅

Interesting video. He explains it succintly

It takes several days of no carbs before your body switches fully to fat as a fuel source

I'll watch the video. Is there a difference in the fast before 12h and after? Or it's only once you stopped eating carbs that it makes a difference?

Didn't watch the video yet but I will

There is a difference in effect from fasting the longer it goes. I’m not sure about how different a fast is for a fat adapted person vs non. I’m sure you can find a talk specifically on that by either Dr. Cywes, Dr. Eric Westman or Dr nostr:npub1kyk7ac33apd7cx0nun3laevf84zfhr8pt8kj4h8v7cpx9t72d4gqkyea0g

Ok that's what I understood as well (about the length of it)

I’ve never done a 24 hour fast bc I’m a hungry mfer 😂 but it was pretty easy. I think I will try a 48 hour fast sometime.

I'd be interested in trying a 24h fast. I've been doing 18h for a while now. 14h before that
