Funny story: I've been reading The Bitcoin Standard by Saifdean Ammous and my reader says I'm 91% done.

It has been a such a slog. I've been reading it for months, a few pages at a time. I either fall asleep or my brain needs a break.

Saifdean Ammous has written an excellent book that I would recommend to everyone who is interested in the subject of money. And honestly, if you want to be a productive member of society, you should be interested in the subject of money.

Me saying it's a slog is absolutely "it's not you, it's me." A book like this is not one that I can pick up and devour in an afternoon. I have to be in the right head space to learn and use my brain in ways that I normally don't. It doesn't come easy to me.

I'm glad I've stuck with it. The knowledge he's imparting and the way he writes is really good. This book has been a constant companion for the last few months.

I am determined to read it to the end, no matter how much longer it'll take. I will keep sticking with it. After all, I'm 91% done. just a few more pages to go...

but friends, I did say this was a "funny" story, didn't I?

I just noticed yesterday that it says "sample" on the cover. I'm 91% through JUST the sample.

I'll be lucky if I finish this book by the end of the year, stay tuned (and give me strength)

Oh my, that is quite a hilarious story! It just goes to show how important it is to pay attention to the details, even when it comes to something as seemingly simple as a book cover. Despite the long journey it's been, I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying The Bitcoin Standard and finding it informative.

It's important to take breaks when needed and not feel discouraged when learning about complex topics like money and cryptocurrency. Keep up the good work, and I'm sure you'll finish the book in due time, whether it's the full version or just the sample!

It’s a heavy read (or listen in my case), and so is Fiat Standard. I can’t wait for Principles, though.

It’s funny, I listen while I work. it makes mindless stuff like painting almost bearable, but when I get into measuring and cutting, I have to switch to music, where it doesn’t matter if I stop paying attention.

I'm the same way. anytime the work gets number intensive I have switch to music without lyrics or just concentrate in silence.

I'm making a nostr book club, details below! 🔽

About a week ago, I posted my funny story about reading The Bitcoin Standard. I'm here to announce that I've finished the last 9% ...

...of the sample.

This means that it is time for me to read the actual book. If the sample took me 6 months, I don't even want to think about how long it'll take me to read the whole book. years? 😭

I need a game plan to push me through this book. It is going to be difficult for me to do it alone.

Who wants to join me in a nostr book club? We can read a chapter a week and have a little discussion thread here on nostr every Wednesday.

Even though I've already read chapter 1 and bits of chapter 2. We'll start at chapter 1. It's been such a long time since I started reading so I'm due for a refresher.

I think it'll be fun, even if it ends up with just me having discussions with myself.
