was just thinking this. why do people care so much about what others wear. it’s so fucking lame.
Discussion
Would you be uncomfortable if I wore a swastika armband?
The discomfort is with the authoritarian impulse superseding a person’s rational thought
what the fuck am i supposed to do about you wearing a swatsika arm band.
bringing up a completely different situation showcases that even you know someone else wearing a mask isn’t that bad, so you have to come up with something on the extreme to inflate it.
No, I’m comparing the semiotics.
If I wear a swastika armband it’s fair to assume I’m indoctrinated into an authoritarian movement. I’ve turned off my critical thinking and will do whatever the authorities tell me to do. That’s scary.
A mask, at this point, means the same thing. Different authorities, yes, but total obedience nonetheless.
These people locked us in our homes. These people got us fired from our jobs for refusing experimental treatment. These people said we deserved to die for not complying.
We have a right to mock their face diapers.
In Russia, propaganda of Nazism and LGBT is prohibited. You will be fined for showing, for example, a tattoo with a swastika or a rainbow flag. You can't wear masks either 🤣 But only during public events. In COVID period, this restriction didn't work.
My point. You can't compare legal and illegal things. Masks are legal, swastikas aren't.
Not wearing a mask was made illegal in many parts of the United States during Covid. And wearing a swastika or a rainbow flag are both legal and protected speech in this country.
Accepting such restrictions on your free speech is your own countries own cultural choice for authoritarianism.
People have every right to wear a mask if they want. And we have every right to mock them.
Exactly. What you do with yourself is your business.
Same goes for how you spend your time, who you spend it with and on what activities.
I never want to go back to wearing one again but some people have anxiety about getting sick or making others sick and who am I to judge them?
exactly
Because it makes them more unhealthy and slower to recover- while giving them a false excuse to come to work while sick. They should just stay home and get well.
how about we focus what we put on our own bodies and remember that people are allowed to do things that they want to, even if it’s dumb to you.
Here’s an example from the real world:
My office pushed masks during the covid tyranny-
people showed up sick because they thought masks protected them-
Because the masks DID NOT protect others, other people including myself got sick from those people-
I’m all for personal Liberty. But we have collective responsibilities to those around us, for example- we are not wearing masks anymore, and are giving out extra sick pay for people so they can stay home.
Im not forcing anyone to not wear a mask. I’m making policy at my workplace with leadership based on what’s best for our collective health and productivity.
Most people who are hourly employees or work in service jobs can’t afford to do that.
They shouldn’t wear masks regardless.
and if they do?
Then they will be sick for longer!
I’m not gonna force them to do anything!
exactly. for your own mind, stop giving a fuck about what people do. if they want to be sick for longer let them. you’re not going to force them to do anything about it, then why care so deeply? you deserve a clear mind and heart. don’t let others stop you from progressing in life. this is a distraction!
Thanks
I would just say we can’t completely give up on public health.
The gov has abused people for so long it’s up to us locally to determine what’s best and encourage/provide but never force people around us to be more healthy
It's not lame when you are specifically excluded because you are NOT doing what they are doing. It's called conditioning, it is a mass propaganda tool, and do we really need to talk about gold stars again? 🤦♀️
