Synonym's Pubky homeserver & indexer services will follow the law, but I will do everything in my power to avoid ever performing KYC compliance.

I simply do no want to work for the government, and I do not want responsibility of your personal info.

Things aren't looking good in the EU. We're more likely to block EU IP's next year, than implement proof-of-age regulations. Taking a stand could make their efforts fall apart.

It is my belief that if we create a system that truly gives users real control over what they see, that the argument for aggressive censorship and KYC becomes irrational.

Also, PKDNS, is going to make this all a bit more interesting...

Anyway, what will Nostr apps and relays do about this? (it affects you too)

So if your Corp follows the law and kyc becomes a law?

How do i run my own instance of your Software? With nostr i can run my own relay for friends and family as a tor service.

No fucks given to stoolwarmers.

Tor relies on Internet access, I don't think anyone here can actually "run their own relay"

You can pay for permission to run a relay, but not just do it sovereignly by yourself

Modern consumer electronics are also so full of backdoors that there's probably nothing stopping authorities from just finding you and shutting your operations down by force

Your best bet is really to rely on public opinion and try to raise awareness so it's "politically difficult" to have you imprisoned/tortured/killed for running a nostr relay

πŸ˜“

They can have fun trying to block all the available services with Nostr that doesn’t comply, versus your single company.

Like 2 relays represent the entire network and it is all funded by Jack and Odell so wtf are you talking about?

The relays need to follow this law too yknow. As will blossoms, or whatever other fucktard term nostr reinvents that already existed.

If you were right you wouldn't be so upset

I can imagine. EU directive goes out to app stores, all social apps must comply. Immediately Primal, Damus and Nostur are out of the iOS app store for every EU country, and Amethyst is out of the Play Store. A few days later not a single native Nostr app of any relative size is left. And that's without touching on relay domains and EU compliant domain registrars and gTLD/ccTLD operators at all.

i dont think nostr is in the comply business.

I will probably run relay only for my wot with 0 regards to any EU regulation.

The regulation isnt for data or servers no one cares about.

It is for any public service people actually use and can access.

Good question!

You will have to be blocking Australia as well from December.

Then the rest of the world eventually.

Isn't the fact that you're forced to take a centralised stand or even consider taking one a complete contradiction of your purported decentralisation

No, ALL hosts are subject to these regulations, including relays, or any server where you're providing social media, or publicly accessible content that could have adult content.

Nostr isn't magic. It requires other people's computers to provide data availability and scale.

You can't have a usable Nostr client without centralization.

The irony here is Pubky does more for the user than Nostr could in this situation, you're just too busy trying to discredit me to grow as a person and actually learn about about things that might require you being wrong.

Lol

this is why i NOSTR

no CEO = no problems

don't need some shithead like you doing me favors

i much prefer nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 because i just call him a bitch and there is nothing he can do

when i was on GAB i also called Torba a bitch so he blocked me ... but Torba being the CEO ultimately had the power to remove my account - he just didn't use it. i called him a bitch to test the freedom of speech and being blocked but not banned was reassuring and yet i yearned for more. NOSTR gave me what i really wanted - a system that doesn't just "believe" in my freedom, but where i don't need to even care what the guy who created it thinks about me at all.

you should continue with your endeavor and if some of your approaches end up proving useful we at NOSTR are simply going to copy them.

i understand you must have always wanted to be a CEO but that's your problem, not mine. i prefer not having masters.

i much rather prefer my bitches like nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6

Sadly John has me muted and won't see my comment but I think it's funny how damn slow y'all are.

UK is copying new

Australian laws from a year ago.
