The current release isn't going anywhere. Don't see a good reason to fork. Not right now.

I'm sticking with my old version of core until I need to make a new node, then Knots. I'm not changing anything for the moment, it's unnecessary.

There are other implementations.

Core dev process = aristocratic.

Knots dev process = autocratic.

#Bitcoin Core is more decentralized, even when you disagree with it's aristocracy.

Turning the entire network over to an autocratic dev process is going to end badly.
