Have you seen birth rates? They're really, really bad. Even poor populations in underdeveloped countries seem to be not having kids like they used to.
Have you seen #Bitcoin adoption? It's narrow and not broad at all.
Have you seen regenerative ranching grow? Hardly. The soil is cooked.
Have you seen the rate of #AI development? It's blistering. Automation is more like to pick up where the production of the likes of China and Vietnam left off, rather than local families in developed countries taking over.
It seems likely we will have several decades of population decline, not growth, and the question is where exactly do we bottom out...
Techno Amish is the future
As a musical genre, I am picturing some fast paced farmyard sounds, mixed in with Traditional Amish instrumentation: Hammered dulcimer, banjo, harmonium, and even some a cappella choir elements.
Field recordings: Horse hooves on dirt roads, creaking wooden wagons, the distant clang of blacksmith tools.
Lyrics (if any): Sparse, philosophical, possibly sung in Pennsylvania Dutch or old-style English with that solemn, hymn-like cadence.
Picture a barn rave where everyone’s dressed in black and white, the DJ is pedalling a generator, and the fog machine is just a bucket of dry ice....
Instead of mixed drinks everyone is slonking raw eggs laid just moments before.

It's only pessimistic if you tie optimism to absolute population growth.
I certainly don't. The economy shouldn't need growth at all cost for people to feel good about the future. Automation, at least, will provide that even as absolute population numbers ebb and flow.
