I decided to take this month off video games and I realized why they sucked me in.
I'm bored and need to improve my life.
I'm a bit ashamed to admit that it has been hard, but pushing through that is how you grow.

what's been your vice?
NCAA football 14 on Xbox 360
damn, sports games really have that replayability
Endless.
And I can't justify a new console because then I'd have to justify more time spent playing it
yeah absolutely get it
for me it's games where i can grind away and have soo much lore and everything
hours just pass by honestly
If I had a new console I would def do that too much. It's so fun
been looking into gamification of life as of late, but maybe i just enjoy the art style of games more than real life 😂
Turns out video games are really good
If only they god you places in life
eh
don't need to beat yourself up about it
life's just about enjoying your limited time here
doesn't mean you have to max skills or smth, sometimes browsing around or doing a sidequest is also fun
Bro I want 99s maxed out
skillcapes and everything?
I only have the agility skill cape and hope to get my firemaking one this winter
*construction, not agility
funnily enough, i'm addicted osrs as we speak...
it's so amazing that it sucks 😂
I'm addicted to OSRS YouTube videos rn and have been for a bit
friend gifted me a membership, as i've never been one
man, i feel like i could play this for years
my construction sucks ass
need to join some guild or do some quests
The agility grind is brutal. just got into the Hallowed Sepulchre.
Do fun dates, paint, go fishing, corn hole in your kitchen, write a book on peony lane, moarrrrr content 💯
Selling the console and just going cold turkey is what did it for me 🤙
But also video games themselves aren’t bad, especially if playing with friends
Feels too nostalgic to sell.
I wanna show my kids what I played one day just because they won't believe it
But chances are you’ll be able to buy a great 360 in 15 years for like 238 sats. They won’t care if that 360 was your original one or not.
Thats kind of how I’m planning it out for my family. In 5-6 years will pick up an old Wii for my kids to bop around on 🤙
Squats, and pushups for physical improvement, nostr:nprofile1qqsxzyppa24zdyn5rvfrdw7w54xx420jpw3set8rzmp6j029pzd86rcpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhguen2f3 for cardiac and mental improvements, and V-LAWGGIN for sat stack improvements. I fixed you. You're welcome.
I am perfect now thanks
Have you ever tried climbing? It'll take you HIGHER. Jokes aside, climbing is an awesome sport and has an equally awesome community, and you live in an epic area for it too
Yeah it's fun to do every once in awhile, but mountain biking, skiing and team sports like basketball and soccer have my heart.
I need the adrenaline from going fast with gravity or from working with a team rather than what you get from climbing
ahh, didn't see this before my other comment. That's cool! Mountain biking has been interesting me, I need to check it out. I'm planning to do the Death Road in La Paz, Bolivia next month, even if it's not full on mountain biking 😁
Hell yeah dude. Really wanting to do a motorcycle trip out there one day
Maybe I'll vlog it 🫣
You know what you have to do now
Why wouldn't you?
If it makes you uncomfortable, you have to do it
Dude I feel the same way. I was just slogging through the last couple games I played not enjoying it at all, just numbing life. I took a 3week break and my brain already feels different. I’m thinking about business ideas and trying to do some more creative stuff and got outdoors a TON
It's definitely something to do with dopamine, but also you don't have achievements just being unlocked by sitting there playing and so you kind of need to go find achievements in life
Ben have you tried CrossFit?
Lolol yes. Loved it just because I enjoyed working out with people and all my exercise at the time was skiing so the cardio felt good
I do other things other than gaming, such as writing (using Obsidian), podcasting (using Wavlake as my host), numerology and many more things that don't require gaming.
That's just what I do, and I'd be happy to help with any of these things I mentioned.
