Is there any client/program that would create something like a tag cloud for the past day/week/all? #askNostr

The discoverability without the algo is quite a thorny path.

Discovery? Thorny? Path?

Do you use nostr?

Do you use other networks without algorithms?

I've done far better without their help.

And I'd argue that there is no path.

Tags work well, (obviously, I wouldn't be writing here otherwise) but client diversity is high. Some don't even have tag support.

And the relay network... while better than ActivityPub, is still a non-centralized network.

I haven't seen any tag cloud software, but it's probably easy to write. Just need to hit various independant relays.

That said, I'm not sure tag clouds align with the current spirit of nostr.

I would argue that algorithms follow the old adage "good servant, bad master." Currently, bootstrapping your feed to contain more posts you would like to see is... quite hard, I would say. While we don't necessarily need a tag cloud, having some ways to easily discover who to follow (who may or may not be on this platform) is quite tedious. You can haphazardly browse keywords, but having the ability to actually see what's out there would be nice.

Ah, I misunderstood.

I was thinking the purpose was to gather tags to drop on posts. Like, for people to discover you.

We could use a small subset of recomended tags. #asknostr and #grownostr are the best I've used.

asknostr to ask for tags to follow relavant to interests, and grownostr to find tags on posts I like.

Of course, there are community solutions aside from tags, like channels, but I haven't found as much activity there.

Also, just searching common tags from other platforms should work.
