Fountain has been the worst performing app in my entire exestence and history of interacting with apps for like two decades. Not joking. I am occasionally trying to interact with it and quickly start hating on it and remember why.

Yajihonne seems daunting. I don't have the client downloaded. Is it android compatible?

I share a similar sentiment about Fountain. I want to use it but it's so frustrating. Anyway, I haven't tried Yaki yet but use Highlighter

IMO, YakiHonne is the champion of long-form, even better than Highlighter and Habla. I think they did a great job integrating long-form creation and reading into the base nostr client. And their internal promotion system leads to increased visibility and discoverability, resulting in more views and interactions.

Thank you SLCW, for the supportive feedback it means a lot for us to hear such words from you. You can check the newest update for the webapp, mobile coming soon 🙏

Ya know, I tried Fountain, but I just couldn't get into it. There were a few functional aspects that I just didn't understand, it was buggy, and I didn't really get the concept of paying sats every minute of listen time for podcasts that are free on literally every other platform. I understand maybe wanting to zap a bitcoin or nostr-related podcast, to support the community, but the whole ongoing sats for every minute you listen seems really crazy. You could easily end up spending $10 or more for every episode. And the fact that the payment scheme extends to all podcasts just doesn't make sense to me.

I very quickly went back to AntennaPod, which is a very actively developed, open source podcast app for Android that, IMO, is as good as they come. I still have Fountain installed so I can check in from time to time and see the progress, but it isn't anything I actually use.

It functions very similar to Amethyst, presenting the same feed options, plus some others that give you a lot of flexibility in how you digest the feed. It also happens to be the best client for creating and reading long-form articles, a function that's sorely lacking from Amethyst.

Finally, it has a great wallet system. It provides its own internal wallet making it a great option for onboarding new users, as well as options to call external wallets, or connect your own via NWC. They really covered all the bases.

My biggest gripe, if you can even call it that, is that it's been a little buggy in the past. But their dev team is dedicated, and have addressed bugs quickly. They really are a team you can feel good supporting. I still use Amethyst as my main client app, just because I'm so familiar and comfortable with it, but I use YakiHonne exclusively for long-form articles, and browse with a few times a week, just to keep my finger on the pulse of what's happening. Give it a shot! At the least, it's worth taking a test drive!

They should totally release the APK outside of those fucking app stores, yo. You dig? Let people have some freedom, man.

The APK is available on Zap.store you may check it out, and we are soon adding APK releases on github, you may check the github repo: https://github.com/YakiHonne

Publishing releases on your GitHub is a good idea. A lot of people prefer to go straight to the source when pulling releases, and github also allows the use of Obtainium for managing updates. In my experience, best practices puts GitHub at the foundation, with other distro sources pulling from the repository.

Got it 🙏
