You mean for notifications? The setting effectively hides all notifications that exceed a threshold of tagged pubkeys. I’m also making the threshold configurable.
Yeah. Is it just checking the OP or replies as well when calculating the count? I’m wondering if people can just structure he’ll threads to 10 mentions at a time to circumvent the measure or if this will mute actually popular threads.
It’s counting the number of unique p tags on any note that the user is tagged on, regardless of if the note is the original post or reply. Yes, people could circumvent the Damus notification setting if they tag fewer than the threshold, but that threshold is adjustable. Also, the actual issue of hellthreads comes from tagging many people who do not want it to be part of a thread, but the replies keep coming in because of the sheer number of people tagged on that thread. Tagging just 10 people to circumvent the measure doesn’t really work effectively. The user can just mute that person and/or thread who is circumventing the measure in the worst case.
