If you want to delete a note on Nostr and your client doesn’t support it, you can use: https://nostr-delete.vercel.app

One of the best parts of Nostr is that we’re not locked in to the control and opinions of app developers.

Thanks! Super useful.

It deletes events from relays.

Not really.

It kindly asks relays to delete the event and then relays can chose whether to actually delete it or not.

correct

You're awesome as always

Ok I believe the link only works on desktop? It’s asking for a Nip 07 extension. Any that work on mobile?

If one of your *relays* doesn't support it, however, you are fucked.

Always assume that you won't be able to delete a note once you've published it.

I actually kinda like the idea of not being able to delete notes. The older I get, the more I forget things.

It's nice to imagine there's a place in the #nostr universe where something I wrote will linger... long after I'm gone.

Typos and all !!!

Well you don’t have to delete anything if you don’t want to. One thing to be aware of is you might want to either use a service that commits to keeping a backup or keeping a backup yourself. Most relays drop content after some amount of time.

This is something we really need a solution to.

Social media posts can remain very relevant after a LONG amount of time. Practically forever, in fact.

The solution to this is having a Nostr archive which makes a backup of the whole Nostr ecosystem (by querying relays).

The archive wouldn't even be that large compared to several existing archives.

It's not guaranteed, however.

FYI for everyone, the relay has to support it too.

Love this. Does it accept lists, separated by commas?

Question: Can a client choose to hide deleted notes, as an option, even if the underlying relay refuses to honor the associated NIP?

I like this. Hate when devs say you can’t do something.
