Nostrgram beats Iris for desktop.

Just trying now, and the feed loads so much quicker too.

Try it if you haven't yet.

Other than speed what do you like more about it?

I just like the look and similar feel to Twitter for Iris

NostrGram has a number of layout options:

* Multi-column

* Twitter-like (single column)

* Pinterest-like (multi-column and just media notes)

* InstaGram-like (single column and just media notes)

You just click one of the 4 icons underneath the note editor at the top of the page.

yeah I think I just need to give it another try. Honestly, it might be just that I view Twitter > Instagram so the name steered me away initially.

What's this beautiful client background!?!?!

Your profile banner is displayed full screen on your profile and notifications feeds in NostrGram.

The light/dark mode toggle doesn’t work

On mobile or desktop? On mobile that's a known issue I need to fix.

It’s on mobile.

Ok. It's on my to-do list to get that fixed.

Looked at the code. It was a simple fix. Just pushed an update so Light Mode works now on mobile.

Wizard

Ok I just tried again and got it to work

Great!

IMO you have the best platform on Nostr so far. I know you are still working out all of the bugs but stay with it because you guys are the first one I go to. Question? Is there a way to just read posts only and not have to read everybody’s replies? Not sure if it’s there already or not, but I don’t see it.

has anything changed with logging in with an extension? mine seems to not be working

No nothing has changed. Which extension are you using, and what error are you getting (if any)?

Alby. and it says this when I click the key button and then when I click extension and then click Go it doesn't seem to actually log me in (following list is empty)

Yeah if it saw the extension it would load your profile into the box above the red notice. If you're not seeing your profile in that box after you click Extension something else is wrong. What browser are you using?

it did load my profile in after this screenshot but still had this issue. Using Chrome

Ok, so you clicked Extension, then it loaded your profile in the box and you clicked OK and it doesn't show your followers, correct? If you refresh the page does it show your icon in the upper-left?

yep exactly. It looks like nothing is changing after I click OK. tried refreshing after that and still the same

Ok, if you could do this in Chrome it would help me:

1. Reload the page

2. Open the Developer Tools (see image below)

3. Click the "Console" tab (if it doesn't open in that tab already)

4. Click the icon to login

5. Click the extension button

6. Take a screenshot (or copy any red text) that appears in the Console. Red text means an error. Ignore the "GET" errors (those are related to people's Nip05 verifications and aren't NostrGram errors).

If you wouldn't mind doing that it would help me figure out what's wrong. If you're having the issue, some others are bound to also.

On Chrome and Brave if you’re using an incognito window to view Nostrgram, if you try to login with an extension like Alby it will load the Nostr profile it when you click Ok it doesn’t log you in. You have to be using a regular window for that feature to work I have noticed.

Oh really? That's interesting. I'll have to test it in incognito and see what's happening.

Ah, just realized why. Extensions have to be approved by the user for use in Incognito mode. You can do that in Manage Extensions.

Yes, even with that enabled the login doesn’t work. It loads the Nostr account after login but it’s just viewing the account via the npub. The need doesn’t load.

The nsec*

Ok that's interesting. I'll tinker with it and see what's not working.

Just checked with Alby and it's throwing an error in Incognito mode. So it's something in the Alby extension.

Try using Nos2x and see it you still run into the issue.

The js call call should find the extension to sign an event.

Maybe disable Alby temporarily and try with Nos2x and see if it works.

How did you make it so fast? Faster than most other desktop clients for sure

It uses a caching server that indexes the top 150 relays. So it's reading from the NostrGram cache rather than a dozen or more relays that you have configured. It also has indexes in place that make it much faster to locate specific events. When you react to a post or Zap or write a note, that's posted to all your configured relays in the usual way. It's on my to-do list to automatically index any relays the user has configured that aren't in the top 150, but that's not in place yet.

Thanks what’s your backend written in? Do you use it to to aggregate and do all this before serving the front end?

php with mongodb. And yes there's aggregation for things like like counts, reply counts, followers, etc.

Thanks for the info man! Appreciated!

It has lists and bookmarks too! #[2]

i tend to agree.. reaaaally getting warmed up to it rn

idk what's wrong with brave browser tho.. it lags both iris and nostrgram for me (as compared to firefox)

Using both. Enjoying both. Both growing, evolving, improving. Growing pains with both. Both worth it.
