got a VPS and first thing I did was to install opencode as root and told it to "finish setting up and securing the server"

Is there a self-hostable model now that is comparable to the paid ones in quality, if not speed?

How did it do?

Did that actually work though? Like you didn't have to do anything or make any modifications after opencode was done?

What were the actual tasks for "securing the server"? Has it setup SELinux? Auto-Update for critical patches?

ook

And then you deleted the VM

Just let it build the script , then you can verify instead of doing it on the fly. It works great and if it doesn't you just let it repair the script and should work...

Did it listen?

Seems that they train their opencode AI on the free-tier data. How do you reason about the trust involved in paying them, so that theoretically they're not retaining or using your data? Or, does the fact this was step one on a new VPS setup mean you had KO data privacy concerns?
