How do we change user behavior when it comes to value for value content on the web outside of calls to action?

IMO this is the biggest hurdle monetizing digital content on the web faces right now, but once that hurdle is overcome it will be a massive unlock.

Any suggestions?

Think it just has to be easier. From fiat to wallet to zap. Too many steps at the moment. All too confusing.

Also: bits

bits are cool.

Like bitzy

bb’s (aka baby bitcoins, slang for sats) or bebe’s

Bro Jack, dude!

Why do you gotta be a bits guy?

Bits are so bearish man!

Sats are way better man.

drop your Strike referral code on X

fiat to zaps

zaps > bits and sats

bitcoin_pup@strike.me

I'll turn that fiat back to sats and zap them back.

Our humble approach for the future of bringing new folks into #[4] and dealing with the hurdle #[2] mentioned.

1) build a wallet natively into the app. New customers should not be expected to bring their own wallet. Bitcoin needs to appear to exists naturally and harmoniously within the app they’re onboarding too.

2) have a community effort to send sats to newcomers enough to get them a one day share pass. Acquiring today is difficult and could create friction. Getting someone to first sharing of their music is our critical customer journey.

3) make acquiring sats into the wallet (#[3] bits!?!) as easy as paying for coffee with Apple Pay

millions of people somehow buy stuff online with credit cards today. they’re familiar with multiple accounts (credit, checking) and transferring between them. can’t a bitcoin wallet be plugged into this paradigm?

yes.

but big banks and financial institutions don’t play nice.

control = profit

find the public pain points, make bitcoin less painful than them.

big banks, big tech and big gov are similar gatekeeping assholes

How about you let me direct deposit my paycheck to cash app, and then use my fiat in cash app to zap ??

Pretty sure you can close the gap!

💯

zap to wallet to fiat would make me feel better about.

Why are we not contributing to fiat currency, by, pardon the french, shit out money?

Because unless expecting to collect too, why are they paying?

My friend doesn’t accept zaps yet.

To elaborate.

Every birthday, we’re getting presents, right? So all year long for a single days present.

Inverse model would be the best thing to happen.

You give presents to compensate for your existence and the remainder of the year, each party you attend, you collect.

Economy should also be able to provide a way to work for people.

Help us figure this out. How do we make this better for content creators? Where do we start?

Tools to make it as easy as possible to interact but I think there is a psychological aspect to it that necessitates something at the social layer to normalize the act of micro-paying for content.

I'd like to see online (or nostr client integrated) vending machines that take fiat and zap sats back to the user for use here.

be the change you want to see!

Patreon but with zaps

Universal zap goals regardless of the client

Subscription models

Zap forwarding/splitting (customizable overall on profile + on singular notes)

Transparent sponsored notes, where you can see which user/company is sponsoring this specific note

Referral links for services/products, where you earn zaps per item sold, volume, subscriptions sold etc.

Tipping, and zapping down paywalls is a good start

It is going to be a process of experimentation, and not every potential solutuon will be ideal for every content creator.

To start, the volume of content has to reach a critical mass to begin experimenting with different solutions.

I think that if nostr goes mainstream and competition between nostr clients heats up we may see:

1. nostr apps come pre-loaded with sats (funded by sponsors, advertisers, venture capital)

2. users will also stack sats for using the app (as an incentive to stick with the app) which they can also use to zap or stream sats to content providers

Sounds like it'd be easier to create better products then to change user behavior to value valueless projects.

There’s something to learn from traditional publishing financial models here, and adapt to modern usage, completely differently from whatever has been done in the past decade

I’m thinking and writing more about this in preparation for Nostrasia, and I’m also going to do a nest in the next couple weeks

Collectives can be stronger than individuals

It's a bit like crowd health. If someone takes their v4v payment and configures it to send sats to you and then they just "set it and forget it", they want to know that they have sent you (or a group) more value than what you gave them.

They want it to buy them a place in a community that they can trust and that will be there for them.

Don't think of the CONTENT as v4v. It is just the MARKETING for the v4v. The real value must be the access one gains to a trustworthy, knowledgeable and available community who can be there to provide support in a particular field when needed.

Surveillance capitalism and an ideology that scoffs at V4V is too ingrained in the public schools. Many of the school districts in my area have a laptop for every child, which sounds like a great idea. Only problem is these laptops are Chromebooks. By the time these kids graduated they have been conditioned for the opposite of V4V. Many people in the US do not value freedom so getting them to understand value for value is going to be tough. Lots more people have to be orange pilled.
