When I select 2x, I don't want faster audio. I want the player to get rid of the irrelevant bits in the video that don't contribute to the story or the lesson.

I guess that's a hard problem. Pauses contribute to a good story, too.
I thought that LLMs could maybe shorten books. We all know a dozen versions of Little Red Riding Hood that differ in lenth, shortest to longest by at least 5x but I suspect LLMs are still not good at producing short versions from long versions for longer content. It's too easy to drop important content that's not driving the story explicitly.

For certain interview videos, I’ll strip the audio out of the file, put it in my own private podcast feed, and listen to it using the Overcast app. Overcast has the best algorithm for removing silence and for speeding up the recording without it sounding sped up. #overcast
I want both. AntennaPod does both. There's an option to remove the silences. It works really well, usually. When the speaker has a really thick accent, it can be harder to follow.
