it's very difficult to have happy healthy thoughts, if your body lacks the raw materials necessary to produce the neurotransmitters that are required to make you feel good....
Once the chemical start to find their balance, then it becomes much easier to pick and choose your style of thinking...
was listening to a podcast with jonathan pageau and he made a great observation that addictions/desires of our flesh are fundamentally secular/satanic liturgy.
because when you sin there is a process to it: the context is generally the same, you do certain actions that are generally the same/a process in a certain order and it is repeated much like liturgy.
we are fundamentally created to worship: it just depends on what we give our attention to. makes so much sense when we are supposed to not conform to the patterns/addictions of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds to his good and perfect will.
in other words we substitute our addictions of our flesh and becomes โaddictsโ to his will because fundamentally we will become addicts to the patterns of this world or his kingdom.

And media often promotes these bad behaviors because itโs profitable. Yank the smart phones from your kids below 18, give them a dumb phone with gps (not kaios based) so you can delete WhatsApp, google browser, YouTube. Give them a locked down laptop with tools for building, learning or designing stuff. Curiousity Stream (in kid mode) and Angels studios come to mind, search about the ideologies behind the books they are reading before you ok them, let them know there are 195 countries in the world and the USA is only one of them, reward character building over academic achievements and warn them about the dangers of a single story, to think for themselves and for the why behind everything. Yes, being a kid or parent has become more complicated.
