It's the most logic and natural reaction of any social being on the earth. Assume the worse is happening, run and follow the crowd. Maybe it's a wildfire, maybe it's a predator..maybe just a crossfit team...
Love it or hate, it's an evolutionary behavior that saved many species along the whole biological life history and thanks god it's deeply coded in our dna as vertebrate otherwise we wouldn't be here.

We are no longer animals surviving day to day. Those who can see past their basic animal instincts will be leading the next wave of evolution.
While I generally agree that we can learn to transcend animal instincts, they will always be included in the spectrum of human experience.
No matter how long you meditate the primitive mammalian parts of the brain will still be there.
