Zaps are (for the most part) frictionless, stress-free, and fun. Zaps allow Bitcoiners to use Bitcoin all day, every day, instead of once a year at their favorite Bitcoin conference. Zaps put an end to the FUD that Bitcoin is expensive to use and slow. Zaps showcase the power of the Lightning network.

Alternatively Likes are... Well, likes are hollow and don't have any value.

True and I am not sure why I am all of a sudden experiencing issues zapping people. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

This is where the "for the most part" comes into play πŸ˜… It seems that you have an issue with your Nostr Wallet Connect configuration?

Lol! Love that! It's always good to have some kind of disclaimer like: "for the most part" πŸ˜…

Yep, something's off. But I haven't changed anything since the last time I troubleshooted and I didn't take notes on how I fix whatever occured thrn and now it feels like a huge task in my Todo list to eventually figure out when I am in the right mood for that.

Cos after all would be nice to zap some notes and some folks and reciprocate in whatever capacity.

I am a fan of having both. Likes, at least with Amethyst and Nostrudel and other clients, allow for a wider range of expressive reactions, while zaps are better at expressing how much you valued a particular post.

Clients with only one "like" reaction make it much less useful, though, and definitely set zaps apart as the higher signal.

I agree. I now prefer a wide variety of reaction options with Amethyst, but I make a conscious effort to zap the note if I comment.

My likes aren't hollow, Mister!

I'm having to hang on to as many sats as I can for the time being.

Desperate times at the moment.

But, believe you me.... the moment relief and a reasonable sense of safety is in our lungs, minds, stomach...

I'll be zapping like there's no maΓ±ana!!!!!!

I sort of agree but everything has its place. It's a method of interaction for new people, anyone still learning about btc, or who doesn't have any/much... a couple days ago, new person liked one of my replies. I didn't recognize the pfp, so I went to the page. I found an awesome first note, so I boosted it. Luck & timing, it took off. Somewhere along the way he set up his wallet (welcome wagon win πŸŽ‰), and that note ended up garnering am impressive amount of sats. I can't say that wouldn't have happened anyway, but that very well could have been a very valuable "like". 😊

I still would try out onlyzaps if it was an option on android though πŸ˜…

I'm #onlyzaps

Zaps only work because governments haven't come after our custodians yet.

True, but if they come after it bolt12 will solve the problem for many users.

nostr noob here but counterpoint:

i would rather have 1,000 likes than 1,000 sats

i would rather have 100 likes than 1,000 sats... etc.

in fact, one could say the market value of likes are discoverable in this way and for me, anyway, it is not zero.
