"What about drunk post..."

Lol

It'd be cool to have a ctrl-z to drunk driving and wrecking bones and places, wouldn't it?

There, hello again. Sorry for the laugh. However now you see, that precisely is what is often meant about the idea of "accountability", that could be in this case, to be able to take a new stance in-related to the previous one. There it could be where the idea of "deleting something in the internet" could get messy.

Probably the closest way to get a deletion in the way I think you're imagining, it would be by running and moderating your own relay, —and that by the way isn't so difficult these days—; other way could also being to encrypt the events you share so is only readable by those that you can decide where to speak in total privacy and security.

¡Saludos!

of course these things need to be discussed. 🤝 just don’t stop at the drunk post example. go down the list. it’s the tip of the iceberg. come up with your own nightmare scenarios. this isn’t as black and white as “personal responsibility or accountability”. some things should never be permanently public or weaponized against your will.

as bad as it can possibly get, not having sovereignty over a typo is already too far for me and demands a solution.

it really would. and if there were a way to make that possible we need to do it.

in the meantime we can figure out how to make deleting notes an actual sovereign thing. with the user in control, not the client or relays.

but back to drunk driving, even though it isn’t apples to apples, you shouldn’t get stuck with forever consequences if someone stole your car and went on a drunk joy ride. the equivalent of that can happen on nostr today.
