Alright I'll use WoS for now, until a non-custodial method is easier!

So many of us are making this compromise that we would otherwise never do because BOLT12 isn't widely available.

LNURL/Lightning Address requiring several layers including interface software, web server, TLS cert, and domain name is too high of a bar. If all LN nodes supported BOLT12 you would need none of that. It would be widely available in an actually decentralized manner. It would also have far better privacy with blinded routes.

Demand BOLT12 from LND today. Or switch to any of the other node implementations that prioritize interoperable standards, pretty much everything not LND.

I had a BOLT12 offer up on my website a while ago. Multiple people asked about it but nobody had a wallet they could use to pay it. I think #[4] used it once.

Good point. Are there wallets that support BOLT12?

Core Lightning does. I think Ride-The-Lightning does as well.

Does LND see an issue with BOLT12? Or they just haven't prioritized it yet.

Not Invented Here syndrome. Further their company builds a lot of things that need a 3rd party intermediary (Lightning Loop, Taro's market makers for transparent bridges).

Core Lightning designs things with true decentralization as the top priority.
