Will double my efforts to look for ways for damus to be profitable. Grant funding is not sustainable or reliable. It is very likely that Damus will fail down this route, but I need to try. The only way for damus to be independent is to be powered by our users.

LFG! 💪
I was listening to a podcast last night which interviewed a film maker who has made two films which broke records, pissed off the studio systems, and were entirely crowd funded. They started a group level where you pay a small amount per month to see early footage, and vote on the direction of what is being shot.
Seems like something of this nature might be worth exploring.
this is a reference to Angel Studios I believe
When damus subscription with cool additional features 🤔
Can we maybe consider a subscription model like patrion with Apple Pay option if required? Maybe that will open other options and note zaps? Like maybe $1 a month is probably very affordable for many and include the relay with notifications, etc. 🐶🐾🫡
I like one-time purchase fee for tools. Then never update the original tool and make another tool for another one time purchase fee.
iOS folks with zaps enabled are able to do the % donation, is there a certain percentage that would get you there?

What about a model where you add a new feat and only make it open source once your funding goal for the feat is paid?
Are you:
- on GitHub sponsorships?
- on Patreon or something similar? Don’t be above taking fiat, you can always convert it to corn.
- what happened to the Damus Purple plan? Would you be willing to accept payment through App/Play Store?

Zap splits in profile setup and on the main drop down profile page would help a lot. I support you on my own, so choose not to do zap splits, but it’s a bit of a chore for a non-technical user. I know there are technical issues with this, but just a suggestion.
Yes. Many ways to do it, from subscription model, new (paid) themes/skins, additional features to taxed zaps or zaps to buy with credit card. I Always hated the (optional) zap tax, too fiat for me. Zapped you classic instead. Damus Team doesn’t disappoint. Cannot wait for #textonly mode some day 🤙 Much love man.

Have you considered nostrocket?
Ideas, work towards allowing polls on damus then crowd source ideas for that self-sustaining profit. At the very least people will be more apt to go along with it if they have a hand in forming it.
I would be happy to pay for a subscription at #damus it’s really worth it and I’m completely convinced of it.
Do a cheese fund raiser once a quarter like Wikipedia.
Maybe form a nonprofit and get on some charitable trust donation lists? They are required to donate a percentage of the total asset base every year.
this is it ⚡️
All zaps route through your channel and scrape fees on the way through.
Idea:
1. Determine monthly cost.
2. Divide cost by # users.
3. App generates each user a donation request for their share each month.
4. As users increase, request amounts decrease, improving chances of them being funded.
5. Break even? (:
This one.
Have you considered stuff like:
- Appending a referral id to retailer links in a note. This way, every time a Damus user clicks a link to an item on Amazon/eBay/Walmart/etc and buys it, you get a commission
- Having a default Zap pool setup in Damus that users are prompted to accept/decline when they first log in
- The classic paid pro features of course
