Not really. The 2010 Kahneman & Deaton study found emotional well-being plateaus at ~$75k/year (now ~$100k with inflation). Beyond this, happiness stalls…

I think the takeaway from such studies is that there is a zone of income levels that may have some correlation happiness, beyond which the correlation fades
It’s certainly possible to be truly broke and happy, but hardships make that unlikely
Similarly having your needs comfortably taken care of helps, but beyond that, you have to make the right choices with that financial freedom to actually be happy

I’m sure it’s a slippery slope on the individual level. I used to be way broker than i am now, and i’m happier now that every day isn’t a serious struggle. But i can already see where certain decisions could start to fuck that up. Like i could buy a new car, but why? I think i would be unhappy after doing that bc my car works fine and it would set me back years in terms of financial comfort

Again a radical over simplistic argument. You can have some bitcoin, lovely friends and happiness (as long as you don’t simplify life)
I agree with you on that point. But Bitcoin doesnt mean happiness. Its financial freedom. Two separate things
Feel this. After discovering bitcoin my conviction grew as a consequence of understanding the corruption of fiat.
