It's amazing how quickly the hospitality sector seems to have recovered from the 2020 shutdown and the resulting aftermath. If you can afford to close your bar / restaurant from the 23. through the 26. You must be doing very well.

Well if that's the case perhaps you have to pay more than €13 an hour to experienced staff from that sector who're willing to "serve" customers through holidays. It comes at a price, you make money, I make money.
There are few experienced staff. They all switched jobs or retired early during lockdown. I know so many.
They pull everyone forward, for the Christmas parties, and then it's basically dead until after 3 Kings.
And the customers can't afford to pay more because wages lag inflation and there are so many layoffs.
Just wait until they have to raise the prices in January. 😬 €30 for a Schnitzel, anyone?
Gosh. Can't wait to go back to Spain. They're partying since Dec 5th and they wont stop until after los reyes, three Kings.

I have certs coming out my butt and I've spent almost 20k over the years on my cocktail certifications. Then you open a "cocktail bar" and offer me €13/h to manage your bar for you and build up your cocktail business?
Yeah, no.
Yeah, it was like that in logistics. Three years of training and a 1.0 on the exam and they offered me €14/hr. LOL
That's why we all left and they can barely keep their businesses running. Oh well. Sucks to be them. And now they have trouble finding apprentices. Surprise, surprise.

Btw there is truth to your comment. But all I see outside venues is signs offering "mini job" and for that, I'll stay home and play computer games.

It is. I usually do 12-14h a day around this time of the year. For a month flat and then chill for three months before the summer season kicks in then do the same again for three months flat and chill until Christmas. But that's Spain. Over here McDonald's has been doing quite well the last few days. It was rammed! 🤣
Here in #Chicago we've many bars and restaurants that did the same closed on 24th and 25th of December.
