Thanks! Yet another "official" Bisq channel on telegram. The chat help on bisqwiki dot online said it was a different one. I love using bisq when it works but when it goes wrong the downside of decentralisation bites hard. One gets so far with help systems then when it's clear it's a hard problem the line just goes dead. The last help dude just said "wow this is really confusing" and disappeared. It's now clear I can't risk using it anymore.

You are using fake Bisq websites reaching out for help. They just phish for your keys. The proper Bisq site is bisq.network.
Any "Bisq" site / channel that asks for YOUR KEYS is FAKE AND DANGEROUS.
The best way to get help is bisq.chat (imho).
OK, you get the problem. Bisq may be open source but their organisation - such that it is - is completely opaque. Getting real help from somebody who can actually do something about a situation, well, frankly it's impossible.
Plus there is nobody who can, say, update the website with clear info about where to got to for help and where not to. When you're seeing your funds locked up and pages and pages of technical jargon to even begin to know where to turn, the temptation is to grasp at anything.
So after endless discussions like these, and others, and spending hours wading through pages of impenetrable technical jargon I still seem no closer to the answer I need.
And I'm not about to hand over my keys. BUT, there is a reality check needed here, and there are genuine reasons to share keys with other systems, and this is a massive elephant in the room.
Moreover, I can protect my keys all I want, but if a trading partner divulges his keys in the middle of a trade, then I can still get totally rugged.
All of this means that, while I am in awe of the technical elegance of Bisq, until there is a proper, approachable organisation behind it, the way there is with, say, Exodus, I think it's just too fucking dangerous.
Bottom line is I'm still no closer to clearing the locked up wallet and nobody has an answer. And nobody can even look at what is really going on in my client without me providing sensitive data.
The only thing I can think of is to remove all funds that I can from Bisq, cut my losses that way, then reinstall and begin again. The problem with that is that it seems impossible to totally remove every trace - the old wallets etc all come back. If you know how to at least flatten the installation properly without nuking my hard drive then that would be very much appreciated. Nobody seems to have the answer to that either.

Again , if people ask for sensitive information like your private keys, it’s scammers and imposters 100%
