Conservation of energy leads to Bernoulli's principle which is essential for understanding aerodynamics and the flight of a bird. In the same way I feel like conservation of energy must operate in the brain at least on certain timescales. Obviously net energy comes in via the bloodstream but what if neurons were able to directly reward each other with energy, forming a kind of activity market? Further research tells me this is unlikely however I did learn that often-used neurons and connections get optimized to be faster and more efficient.

I used to meditate a lot.... And by meditate, I mean sitting with eyes half closed, and observing my thoughts or breath.

I found this to be energizing... I could get by on less sleep (5-6 hours vs 7-8).

For every ~ hour I meditated, it was ~an hour less of sleep that I needed.

Not sure what is happening to the neurons during meditation. I do recall a talk with HH Dali lama and physicists on you tube that may provide some insight. βœ¨πŸ™

Any reason you stopped or don't do it as much any more? I try to meditate often and after trying a few forms, feel most comfortable with something called anapanasati. It's got four phases to it, each of which deals with different aspects of body, mind, and principles. Afterward I tend to feel more relaxed, more grounded in a certain view of reality, and often times energized to follow the natural energy of my mind. This is why I've been posting about a variety of things. It's just how it works up there. Thanks for the video tip, perhaps I'll search a bit for it. πŸ™

I stopped that practice bc it took me too much out of the world. At that time, I met a group that practiced dzochen and we met for sky gazing practice....which was a blast. And also practiced life as a meditation.

I'm currently doing a yoga asana practice that fulfills the meditation needs and is efficient bc it hits physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Also trying to organize a group to go sky gazing so hope to resume that in the New Year.

I think Alan Wallace also has a video on physics and meditation... Ill look for that. πŸ™

I’ve wondered before whether ATP, or glucose, or ketones, or some other source of energy could be used by cells as a currency. Maybe in a WoT: i β€œtrust” you more if you pay me some glucose? It would be like bitcoin, but if bitcoin were truly β€œdigital fuel” instead of digital gold. πŸ€”

ChatGPT could be wrong but mentioned astrocytes supplying lactate to nearby neurons but also more about bloodflow which is what I was talking about with the further research.

I think the existence of money is a challenge for WoT but not insurmountable. I mean eventually one of an attackers lackeys might come forward and say they were paid to boost the attackers trust level which would lead to demotion.
