I’ve been binging on so many history documentaries.

It’s honestly kind of a mistake to listen to so much at once because it’s all kind of depressing when grouped together so tightly. The harshness of life for a random person for thousands of years in every culture.

Between all the cool invention and discovery there is just an endless variety of war, raids, famine, slavery, serfdom, and torture. =/

It is an important perspective to have though. That we live in the actual best times ever.

Maybe, but for how long? That is the question…

Definitely the question.

I like being positive in general. We might have to go through a world civil war, but I think progress is still going in the right direction.

I strongly believe the last human to die has already been born, one way or another.

Freedom tech is pushing us in the right direction though. The sacrifices of our ancestors were not in vain.

Watch "Ancient Apocalypse", it's on Netflix. You will love it.

I already listened to depressing stuff to refresh my knowledge of the Bronze Age collapse.

Is it about that one or another one of the many catastrophes?

It's around a hypothesis revolves around the impact of ancient apocalypses like the Younger Dryas on human civilization as a whole and whether we lost any information along the way.

It specifically discusses ancient buildings and monuments that should not have been possible to build. It's not a alien stuff tho 😅

This is not necessarily depressing but rather highly intriguing, as it significantly increases one's curiosity.

By the way also do one Google search, the person who made this was also on Joe Rogan.

I was fascinated by it!

Does 'The Last Money' by Jorg Hermsdorf fix this?

Basically it's: "Things were going okay for Markon and his family. It was a hard life of subsistence farming and streets filled with filth, and where half of his kids died before ten, but an honest life nonetheless. Those were known as the good times. But then it was as if the gods turned against their people, with a series of decade-long famines and the invasion by the Sea People."

And I'm like, "Cool cool, alright alright alright. This is fine."

Imagine the stories from the Great Depression.

Now imagine binging on said events as they actually played out, rather than the stories we are told.

That is what really happens, once you experience memories from previous lives it all gets VERY close haha…

Makes you wonder if things will ever change. Thus the importance of faith. And hope.

Have you seen Longitude? I’ve only read the book but I know some people that watched a documentary. Basically when they were trying to come up with an accurate way to determine longitude, all the elites said the answer was in the stars and could be found through education and more research and that a clock could never be built accurately enough. One old tinkerer was like fuck that, I can build a clock that good. And he did, but wasn’t credited until after his death.

Time to get some fresh air :-)

Which ones exactly, if that's okay to share?

Humans are a part of nature and nature is brutal. At least we are no longer being eaten alive by predators for the most part.

Agreed with you for a “New York minute,” then realized we still are. In the past the predators were generally known (communally) and defense was at least possible. Today? Well, we can’t talk about that with each other can we.

On average over the centuries the toughness of life is much harder than we feel now. Mainly because the ease of life has been already stolen from our future self's and children. There is balance and we are in the process of a swing to restore the balance. Times are about to get hard but #bitcoin is hope

It does when done right.

Grateful everyday for the wonderful life we live!

What documentaries have stuck out to you?

It’s quite amazing we’ve made it this far. Think about how much further along we could be if we tried to get along

And it's always about taking power over others. Taking someone's wealth without consent.

I have the same feelings watching the news.

I fear our greatness is in the past.

Human nature wants to build a kingdom for self at the cost of others.

Only if you understand that you can not create but were created, life doesn’t end with death, eternity is real, all actions will ultimately be accounted for and working together as a body that needs each other, could result in peace, purpose and leave a honorable legacy.

Mankind needs Saving from itself. 🙌🏼

Not depressing to me. It's like sweating during a workout. The harshness of life for those random persons is 'why' and how I can type this to you where ever and when ever you are in the future.

The Good remains forever, the harshness is discarded with the floor sweepings if you are a effective house keeper.

Aptus Manet - the fit abides.

That’s a cold reality that many folks choose to ignore. We are a violent species. Not all of us of course, but enough to ensure that a utopia will never be a reality.

Just imagine if 50% of what you're seeing in those documentaries is untrue?

Try reading about anthropology and be filled with awe how we manages to survive at all to modernity.

So much truth in your statement Lyn—my exact sentiment.

A personal credo of mine (most frequently in business) has been, “I’d rather know and have it be bad than not know.” If I know, I can act. I tend to be very good at “What’s wrong with this picture?” rather than what’s good about it. Doesn’t make me an inspiring leader or a fun guy, but has served me well and wouldn’t change this tendency.

I think the problem is we have no way of knowing the relative scale of what is presented to us in relation to reality. A historical graph of this relationship paralleling historical events would likely reveal a VERY interesting story.

That someone IS making decisions about what is presented, and the magnitude, is very unsettling.

Thank you for verbalizing what is likely an increasingly common experience.

Any particular you found interesting? I am into this stuff too so would appreciate recommendations.

Much people is bad for is diferent for all .

We need a villain for the hero to appear 🗡

Indeed, happily we are (still) trending to less lousiness

One of the biggest privileges any human being can experience is being born in the present time in a freedom oriented country.

In 200 years, someone will say the same about us.

They didn't know their lives were shit; there was no control group for comparison-- they were the control group, just as we are.
