Anyone who voted for this liar and hypocrite, I hope you hang your head in shame

Keir Starmer's speech, delivered with a focus on fixing the "foundations" of the country, attempts to frame the current Labour government as inheriting a deeply troubled state of affairs, both economically and socially. However, this narrative warrants critical examination, especially in light of the role the Labour Party has played as the opposition in recent years.

The Financial Narrative: A Convenient Surprise?

Starmer highlights the discovery of a £22 billion shortfall in public finances as a startling revelation, positioning it as a challenge his government had not anticipated. This portrayal raises serious questions about either the competence or the honesty of the Labour leadership. As the official opposition, Labour had access to detailed briefings, economic forecasts, and financial data throughout the Conservative government's tenure. The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), the Bank of England, and various parliamentary committees provide information to ensure that the opposition can effectively scrutinise and challenge government policy.

If Labour claims they were unaware of such a significant financial issue, it suggests a worrying level of incompetence. Any opposition party aspiring to govern must have a deep understanding of the country's fiscal state, as this knowledge is crucial for forming credible policies and holding the government to account. Labour's surprise at the financial situation implies either a lack of diligence in their role as opposition or a deliberate attempt to dramatise the situation for political gain.

On the other hand, if Labour was aware of the fiscal realities but chose to present them as a shocking discovery, this raises ethical concerns. It would indicate a strategy aimed at manipulating public perception to blame the previous government entirely for the nation's financial woes, absolving themselves of any responsibility or prior knowledge. Such a tactic undermines the integrity of political discourse and risks misleading the public about the true state of the nation's finances

what ship is that? going to Madiera in April and looks good to do with the kids

I agree, I use the word Politician loosely. In this system the Politicians would be something entirely different

Imagine if you could dictate where every penny of your taxes are spent. I can't stop thinking about this concept.

If you wish you could have 100% going to welfare or 100% going to national security or a mixture of whatever.

Politicians would need to convince you where to send your taxes, with persuasion and hopefully honesty. They would be incentivised to educate the nation to the real issues and why the money needs to be spent there.

I can't help thinking this will fix a lot of issues.

An extra would be if taxes where paid with #bitcoin (not that I would ever part with my bitcoin) on an open ledger. You could verify it went to the correct places.

We have a new release out!

There's soooo much to cover with this release. Going to try to point out as many of the big details as I can while keeping this post brief-ish.

First thing: Please show our contributors some love AND demonstrate the power of Nostr and zap the crap out of this post. All zaps are forwarded to our development fund that goes to reward our contributors.

General note: Our release cadence tends to be less frequent than other tools -- this is a natural facet of our work as a volunteer project, and that we have a more technically conservative posture given the importance of what we're helping bitcoiners safeguard.

Headline feature: reproducible builds. Anyone in the world should be able to reproduce and validate that the software we're releasing is in line with what is in our relevant code repositories.

Big quality of life improvements:

. Power-to-Splash: ~12 seconds

. Vastly improved live camera preview

. Noticeably more responsive controls

. Brightness adjustment reminder

. MicroSD removal reminder

Something big for the Uncle Jim SeedSigner maxis out there: Formalized support for SettingsQR! Transform SeedSigner from a featureful, more technical device into a dead-simple signer for grandma, and then back again with a couple of non-private QR codes.

For devs and everyone else who is on-mission to preach and teach the SeedSigner gospel: Screenshot generator! Create pixel-perfect renderings of most UI screens for explainers, tutorials and even development use cases.

All of these updates have come from more contributors than we've had involved in any previous release.

If you are receiving value directly from SeedSigner; or if you simply understand the importance of a discreet, DIY, non-corporate, FOSS, cold storage signing tool for the global bitcoin ecosystem -- please make a donation to our development fund.

I will be digging into the above features and updates in the coming weeks to provide more detail on their value, but for now grab your signer and give 0.7.0 a try!

1 SeedSigner = ♾ Cosigners

Thank you everyone!

On average over the centuries the toughness of life is much harder than we feel now. Mainly because the ease of life has been already stolen from our future self's and children. There is balance and we are in the process of a swing to restore the balance. Times are about to get hard but #bitcoin is hope

What a fucking idiot this guy is! It's easy to spot the bad actors. #bitcoin is a filter
