Curious.
Two questions.
1) Who here is on BlueSky?
2) Describe your experience @ Bluesky?

1. Not me. 2. Non existent.
Sorry for not being helpful š¤
š Participation trophy š it counts!
I am on it for two days now. Nostr is better. Thereās more unpleasantness on Bluesky. I hsve only bern on a couple days though, do I will give it more time.
I really miss zaps there. ā”ļø
Thanks for response #[2]ā
What do ya mean by āunpleasantnessā? Rude people? Bad Vibes? Could ya explain further please?
Stuff like this
I was bullied off the app for no reason. All I did was ask for a block feature because I was being harassed. And guess what. I still am. No one seems to care.
Extremely intolerant and unwelcoming. Exclusive - not inclusive. Bad vibes while saying you being bad vibes. Negative while calling you negative. When you try to report the truth on the abuse and harassment taking place you then get gang stalked by Bluesky influencers across multiple platforms.

š¤£š¤£ that bad heyyyy
Iām
Bluesky feels empty ! I only follow people that I recognize from Nostr.
Not much activity ! I gain daily followers even though I do nothing there..
And the feed looks condensed to me !
Itās a work in progress, so will see how it will evolve in the future.
Hmmmm so even with exclusivity āinvitesā itās not hitting correctly. Interesting. Thanks for reply!
Itās maybe specific to the people I follow there, I donāt follow news accounts there, and politicians.
Iām mostly looking for « realĀ Ā» people I can interact with!
Interesting. So invite only is downfall then.
I think also coming from Nostr doesnāt help you appreciate the experience ! š
Bluesky can give you full ownership of your data, thatās the positive thing for now. but itās still a moderated social network so you can get censored, and for now itās centralized.
Nostr is already decentralized, and censorship resistant.
So Iāll hearing Nostr much better than BlueSkyā¦for many reasons!
How does BlueSky give ya full ownership of your data?
You can host your own data. But the problem with Blueskyās architecture, is the aggregators.
If you want to post something
your own data stored in your own server, should be send to an aggregator before it can be posted on Bluesky. So censorship can occur at the aggregator level.
In theory, anyone with the right amount of resources, can run an aggregator.
But as I said earlier, Bluesky is still a work in progress, no one knows really how it will evolve!
this
Thank you for explaining for me šš«¶
Thank you for your curiosity ! šš«
Curiosity killed the cat. But I think Iāll be safe! š¤£š¤£ just jokes
I donāt think I even got a invite code yet.. š¤·āāļø
Thanks for reply. #[2]ā has code by sounds of it if ya wanna test it out!
Just one ššš« they give out an invite code every two weeks
Would be cool to check it out.. but maybe Iām not in the cool kids group.. I think I was one of the first few hundred to put my name in along time ago.. but š¤·āāļø
Not a fan. Needs more nostr.
Thanks for reply. Is it the people that are there the issue? Lack of variety? Lack of memes/fun conversations?
Lack of ā”ļø & my npub.
Iāll keep testing & hoping it integrates with nostr in a meaningful way, but otherwise it reminds me of Damus without my fam & zaps.
Iām sure it will improve over time. Right now itās meh.
So, Iām hearing zaps ā”ļø are huge part of why Nostr is better than BlueSky. I definitely agree with this.
I got an invitation like two months ago, decided to check it out, all too whitey and politically correct and twitterish thus purposeless, never came back (I did, actually, only to confirm it all). giving away my invitations.
Thanks for reply. So Iām hearing itās not very diverse in users, which is affecting the experience. Could it be because those with invites.. also inviting & attracting others with the āsameā mentality?
I actually do think itās quite diverse. lotsa lgbtqia+, lotsa nerds, coders, hipsters, artists, thatās not the problem. the app itself is and all those involved with it, as it seems. too institutional, too clean, too big tech. wef employees (literally in some cases). I really see no purpose as they couldnāt care less about censorship, the majority is actually migrating due to elonās āfree speechā policies. so, u know? itās a behemoth, something in between facebook and mastodon.
Didnāt realize it was WEF peeps! Ooooph that changes things slightly. So the users that went to BlueSky only left cause they donāt like Elon⦠hmmmm.. but I was under impression Elon is opening Twitter to be free speech, and prior Twitter under Dorsey was not. (Examples such as Twitter files proved censorship).
ā¦and yes, I understand what ya mean now that Bluesky lacks purpose (since itās not decentralized anyway).
it actually is, but what I meant was⦠so what? mastodon as well, but they managed to censor users. sooner or later, itāll happen with bluesky as well.
as for wef, dunno if their devs and ceos and stuff have links somehow, I just saw two users that, according to their profiles, are wef employees. but it all seems to fit on wefās agenda, thatās what I meant. time will tell.
Ahhh understand. Whatās your thoughts on Jackās participation w BS?
as Iāve written a few days ago on an article: omen or knowledge of cause. the idea came up in 2019, months before the massive twitter censorship. Iām giving him the benefit of doubt here, which he already showed he deserves. he probably didnāt run no shit over twitter, so tried a way out. once again, as it seems, trainees took control and bs became just another bs. meanwhile, fiatjaf came up and all jackās problems were solved.
I watch roving mobs bully people for wrong-think.
I read posts stating that my ākind of peopleā were not welcome there.
I read the tech documents and saw no decentralization or free speech protections built in.
I listened to people talk about how they werenāt going to ālet this get ruined like the right wing trolls did twitter.ā
So, I followed directions. I donāt engage, and I save my invite codes for brave plebs who wanna peek for themselves.
Thanks for reply. Interesting. No one has commented anything good about BlueSky. Only negative things to say. So the promise of it being ādecentralizedā is all lies.
I flew with them a couple weeks ago. definitely become a budge airline, was much better 15 years ago.
We're talking about JetBlue, right?
Thanks for reply. Yessssssš¤£š¤£š¤£ JetBlue
no dms, video uploads, not federated, lots of lgbt accounts, lots of cat pics, sky pics, selfies, nudes, its like twitter without ads, slow progress on updates they only have few devs, good thing is its clean ui design
Bluesky is literally a psyop and I guarantee there will be ads eventually.
Do you prefer Nostr over Bluesky?
Or which platform is your favourite, I neither Nostr or Bluesky?
prefer nostr ofcourse, fast progress but devs here dont really care for non-bitcoiners, its all about the zaps right?
Disagree. I think ā”ļø are huge for reasons we havenāt even explored yet but itās much bigger than that. Only speaking for #damus. We are constantly thinking wider adoption š
Thatās not really true, ppl here are completely fixated on bitcoin even at the expense of basic functionality.
I agree that it is very dominantly the culture. Damus and Amethyst have both added more social features lately though, and Iefan and Mazin had been building stuff for actual creators that while using sats, aren't for sats if that makes any sense.
There are people that see the need for content other than Bitcoin. Including some devs.
Thanks for reply. Iād like to think the space is changing on Nostr. I can relate to what B says about feeling pushed out as non-bitcoiner, as I did feel that too for quit a while, and the coin culture did bring me to edge of leaving. But.. with that being said, I have managed to find & communicate with others who are also not bitcoiners, & have made some great friends. The other highly important thing Iād like say is that I really really appreciate #[5]ā listening to his user base on Damus. That in & of itself is giving power to the people, & creating a beautiful platform for all of us to each find our niche place, in this decentralized culture. I also understand much more than I did when I signed up many moons ago!āBack then I didnāt realize this wasnāt fully built space, & that it would flower šø in front of me. Iāve watched & been part of much change here, some change good, some bad, but its always still went forward and grew in an organic & positive way.
I prefer nostr, I think it has more potential. But the devs need to focus on widespread adoption instead of niche bitcoin features. I read this thing by fiatjaf too, itās about how bluesky is sus af. https://fiatjaf.com/ab1127fb.html
The bluesky ppl are obviously interested in algorithms (censorship) and monetisation. Itās basically the fediverse which is super broken.
This why I donāt understand why Jack is still on board of Bluesky.. it doesnāt seem like itās going direction of decentralization
One thing I'll say in defense of algorithms is the "who to follow" algorithm on twitter is really good for finding ppl who you want to talk to. If there was some way to make that for nostr but unbiased/client hosted/decentralized I think that would actually give nostr an edge over the fedi in a significant way.
#[5]ā is this possibility w Nostr?
"The people you follow liked/ zapped/ renoted the notes of these people the most"
Thatād be good actually, but I also find new follows through connections I make organically. Maybe an AI thing that analyses that and the global feed?
Yeah, you could also find people by looking at who also follows the people you follow, and then of those people look at who they follow that you don't already.
I think it's possible with what already exists in nostr, but might require a lot of processing power.
I guess thatās part of the ādecentralisedā bit.
Yeah, everything in computers is way more efficient when you can have 1 central authority managing the calculation of things then storing the results vs a bunch of individuals doing it themselves.
On the other hand decentralization prevents someone from secretly censoring or altering things.
Thank you for posting link. š«¶ Think this same article jack posted. I quickly skimmed it, but later Iāll do full read!
I entered into the waitlist, and I haven't received an invite yet, so as of right now I have no presence there and therefore can't speak to anything about it. But I'm not exactly holding my breath wanting to get in on Blue Sky. I'm perfectly content to wait until it opens to the general public.
