#musicstr I'm clueless.

Need help with finding some song simple enough to learn within three weeks for a national finals, but also something that carries well on theatre stage with recording, not live music. For me, rock alto.

So far I tried Summertime (which is a bit short), Feeling good (too difficult to study within two weeks, this one needs aging in practice), Take me to church from Hozier (it's endless in highs and I could beat myself on it if nervous) or something from Adele (everybody has something from Adele, lame). Maybe Yellowbrick Road, but that's also very hard to keep on track.

Hälp.

Norwegian Wood

House of the rising sun

Ode to Joy

From my first music book 50 years ago (shit - 50 years 🥺)

Bit more advanced

Dolly Suite

Jesu joy of man’s desiring

Those are classics, I'm a singer.

Wow, I’m definitely not 😂

I'm searching for a song for alto, preferably popular or rock-ish. Although I was thinking about Ave Maria covered by our famous rock singer Lucie Bílá. But that's no easy piece either and the finals is not held in church as it was planned. In theatre the acoustics would totally kill me on that.

I’m definitely more on the instrumental side, so these are going to be rubbish suggestions, but what about “Time to Say Goodbye” the one Sarah Brightman sung?

Forgive the inaccuracies, I’m typing on a ferry with limited WiFi 😂

I used to love the italian text, allover Andrea Bocelli was my hero. But 1) there's competing a guy who literally professionally sings italian operetta and 2) I'm not sure how this would carry in transposition down for alto. I'm not comfy with belting and going high, at least that's not the thing I'm going for the whole time, you know - suddenly singing in my head voice while last two times I was all rock might be a bad step aside. I'm the lowest and hardest voice there. 😄 But I'll keep it in mind, I'll at least browse around these pieces. It's heavy enough and not so difficult to learn the basics. Thanks.

pow please

Alright, maybe if someone accompanies me to the finals and records it. I tend to go shame myself alone.

I’ll leave you to discuss cliff throwing with nostr:npub1v7k63c6y2vktlqhsuupywt3yc7ykursujc34at964f9cv9s9y9csjutfk0 😂😂😂

The cliff is for anyone but not everyone.

I don’t trust you, can you verify that please 😂

I've been falling my whole life.

😂

That implies he hasn't fell yet.

I had an ex-girlfriend who told me that if she were going to kill herself it would be jumping off a cliff while listening to this song.

Let me just guess - she liked drama, huh.

I have never not lived in interesting times. I shouldn’t have pissed off that Chinese witch doctor.

I'll admit there's a lot of pop songs I'll gladly kill myself to too. Not for drama, simply because it would be better than listening to them.👀😆

lol

That conversation took an unexpected direction 😂

I am the avatar of tangents.

🤣

Try Nora Jones version of Black hole sun

Ooh, that's a nice cover. I don't like Nirvana and last time listened to Norah Jones like decade ago, but this is niiiiice.

One of my all time favourites, that song.

Did you choose your song?

Thanks for asking. I'm heading there. Still have a few to consider, tips from here were helpful, but then I hit swing cover (Postmodern Jukebox) of Seven Nation Army and that stroke one particular thread of my heart - I studied jazz piano and absolutely love swing covers of pop and rock songs. It was even a main musical theme of our wedding. So that's my favorite for now, it's fun. I'll brush it for a bit and will see if it takes me somewhere or nowhere. https://youtu.be/sB6HY8r983c

Great one! 💜

Thanks! It's weird, fun and I can roar and yell some pieces through as I please. It should go with evening gown and any theatre stage well enough and honestly - I can't beat experienced singers in their field. But I know jazz and swing very well and will go a different direction anyway. Let's see.

I was thinking about some Evanescence songs, or even https://youtu.be/-A9j48ZPKMA

Oh, I forgot about Evanescence. I listened to this video shortly, because I'm baroad on data, and I don't think I know this song🤔
