for the record if nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s does an official .ipa release the sideus site will just be instructions on what to do with that instead of a separate release
Is this only a concept idea?
had push back on doing an .ipa release of damus early on… I thought it could be a way for people to get the early builds when TestFlight was filled and sign themselves though https://altstore.io
now that’s it’s being removed, it’s a way to keep the current one tap functionality on iOS. I’m gonna keep the one tap splits going to to nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s and everything the same.
If the damus team wants to do a .ipa build on the damus git… http://sideus.app will just be instructions on how to use altstore to sideload that .ipa
I heard him talk about keeping functionality in a macOS release, so this is just a technically unaffiliated fork, emphasized by the name, in case they want to avoid having a download link to a .ipa file.
there are apps that distribute both on App Store & a .ipa download on GitHub, there isn’t a guideline or tos against doing this.

Nice. You installed using AltStore? I've been trying to tell nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s it's stupid easy to sideload Damus with zaps intact for iOS if he signs and releases the IPA. Glad to see at least he will release a freedom version on macOS
Yes!
not quite yet, but is the plan, I’m just skinning at this point and running in simulator, I’ve never built (exported to .ipa) before so this is also just a learning process for me, just got a machine capable of it. Not sure if I’ll keep up with future features at this point. EU is set to force side loading by 2024 anyways.
Altstore keeps my pebble watch alive. So it’s blessed weekly. delta emulator is purple too, there could be some foss synergy. I’m actually hoping he catches wind and sideus.app is just instructions on how to sideload the official .ipa

I also don’t know if its against their ToS to have releases like this.
I don’t believe it is. See https://ish.app even has a altstore source on their site after the “get on App Store” button.
But if that’s much, maybe want to just wait a bit, just listing the ipa on GitHub and i’ll unaffiliatedly explain on sideus.app what to do with that.
Do not release signed apps outside the App Store. If you do your dev account will be revoked and all your apps will get blocked.
I thought so
but with altstore it’s signed by the users free 3 signings, not the dev, the user is the dev.
Best if someone in the community publishes it using the open source code. Keep nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s out of it.
When I said signed I meant with a checksum we can confirm the build is official Damus release, sorry for any confusion, not the Apple dev account
#[1] IOS users, if buying a new phone is too expensive, you can still learn how to be free with what little you got.
but how
