i don't need a discount to spend bitcoin. i spend bitcoin as often as i can. why? i believe that im helping to facilitate the revolution that we so often speak about by actively using bitcoin. if i tell the world that bitcoin is better money and then don't use it, i would be a hypocrite.

if you're afraid of spending your bitcoin because you want to HODL, then there is an extremely easy fix for this. it's called 'spend and replace'.

if you were going to spend cash for an item, but the vendor accepts bitcoin, spend the bitcoin, and then immediately use the cash you were going to spend to buy back the sats that you just spent. easy.

Yeah, me too. But in my own field-testing, the novelty wears off quickly that I am paying a premium using Bitcoin.

The few sats spent for sending a transaction to the merchant are negligible.

"use the cash you were going to spend to buy back the sats that you just spent" - It is this step that usually involves paying a premium.

fees are minimal on strike. that's what i use. and i don't worry about the small fluctuations from spend to replace.

There exist KYC-free exchanges. RoboSats and the Bisq Network are two that I know of, but if you search for them, you'll find more.

The best way, however, is to earn bitcoin by producing something of value, and accepting only bitcoin as payment.

If you're buying a beer with sats, sats is the money. You have $5 worth of sats, and you trade it for beer.

I also use nostr:nprofile1qqsvn0dkjt80raqrxd470c98n7zrdehmcvj6p5hgw3kyku6zyd8z0fqpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfdurpw709 where I immediately take my dirty fiat, convert it to bitcoin and then pay.

This way I’m not taping into my HODL stack. And they track all of the transactions for me where at the end of the year, I can’t print everything out. Easy breezy.

I agree, and spend and replace addresses the hodlr’s dilemma. But I do think people new to Bitcoin need an incentive and won’t understand ‘oh but it’s just a better money’. Discounts if just initially to get adoption up could help.
