My group of long-term women friends and I dealt with this issue. Weβve been friends since at latest early 20s. We are in our 40s now. π
One of them dated the brother of another. They dated for two years and were happy. After the relationship ended there was an awkward standoff with those two. The other women and I finally mediated & we all are still close friends to this day. π«π«‘

Completely agree, I thin k that's why so many internet arranged dates/relationships peter out. Nothing to bolster it.

It can also be a great indicator how well your friends know you/how deep your relationship with them is.
If they set you up with someone completely wrong for you they aren't that good of a friend.

I keep coming back to the idea of a nostr dating app. On the one hand you want your WoT to inform your matches, on the other a separate npub would be nice for more privacy. It would be nice to use location to show people nearby, but that seems like a privacy mess.
I don't know if it'll happen, but hopefully someone is working on it.
