nostr is great for bitcoiners and for people that like nostr
…
not sure who else will show up
but that’s an old mindset of social networking apps
many possibilities still ahead for clients and relays

The monetization will attract “influencers” unfortunately (especially when paid nostr-nests go live) and the sheep will follow imo.
This will be great for bitcoin MoE adoption as bitcoin takes its rightful place as the native currency of the internet (to quote #[3] ), just a little unfortunate that it will likely attract grifters as well. Take the good with the bad I guess 🤷🏻♂️ definitely a step in the right direction for adoption.
I'm not exactly a Bitcoin maxi (please don't hate me!) but I'm on here for the freedom and decentralisation.
I'm talking about Nostr with other open source / privacy people. Most aren't interested because it's too "coiner-ish", but as one or two come over the network will grow.
Anyone who need to send and receive paiments will be here
I think the adult industry will. And be happy to have their own relays once the Sensitive Content NIPs are enabled.
Why? Freedom of speech. FSSW can be discussed in ways that scare US based companies.
Money. Banks discriminate. LN doesn't.
I see pornstars loving Nostr. And when they come, each of them will bring their 10s of thousands of “normie” followers as well.
Paul - have you spoken to a lawyer/solicitor (whatever you call them)? I don’t see legal issues for relays. I see legal issues for client apps and media servers. The relay is not the one presenting the image/video. In fact it’s hard to figure out which relay is the source since there can be many sources of the same note.
Client apps. User is liable for what they post.
Media Servers. Generally carry liability for what they know about, or SHOULD know about, i.e. you can't avoid liability by not having a reporting mechanism, and you can't ignore that which you are told about. BUT generally no liability where your own ENFORECED rules are broken.
Relays - pretty much like media servers. So, in UK escorting is legal, and that content is fine on my relay. Blood in porn is defined in law as Extreme Pornography and is illegal. I am required to ban it, have a clear reporting system commensurate with my size as an org, and to ACT when I become aware of it. Whether or not my relay is the source is immaterial, what matters is that it is on my relay.
In the USA the spectre of SESTA/FOSTA etc will result in many relays being advised by their lawyers that such content represents a legal risk TO THEM. Some may be comfortable with that risk, others, less so.
